You and I have very different ideas about what is delusional, Hoss. It's not that bad or we wouldn't be 5-1 and in the Top-10. All you consider is offense, which is our one real weakness. The defense is good and improving as are special teams. The schedule is favorable I think. 5-1 for the remaining games is entirely likely. Every remaining opponent except for Bama has major flaws that make them worse than LSU. Your opinion and a flawed one I think. Talent alone . . . :insane: I disagree with nothing here. Nobody is saying that all is well, just that we're nowhere near a catastrophe. No, . . . you often perceive everything with unrealistic expectations.
shouldnt you be pitching the moderate position. you know, the glass isnt half full or half empty, it just "is". you are pumping sunshine. to say "All you consider is offense, which is our one real weakness." like it really isnt all that important is not realistic. only if there is significant improvement in offensive execution. without it, the team will lose to bama +1 or 2 because the close games like uga and msu wont continue to go the right way. as much as i hope there is significant improvement, i think the smart money has LSU losing 2 more in the regular season. but thats good in a "down" year.
That assumes we regress. IMO we can stay exactly as we've been and still finish with 10 wins. There will be steady progress, however so it's looking good for LSU.
You win the game by outscoring your opponents. When your D is good but not great you have to score. Fact is we are about to face some very good Os and a few have a very good D as well. Say what you want that we are 5-1 based on talent alone but its true. All of our opponents thus far are either .500 or under. Nuff said right there. The only team that we have played so far with the same talent level was UF. Which happened to be a loss. Im not at all saying we are in a catastrophe, but we are walking a fine line. Especially when you consider that the upcoming teams have more similar talent levels. We will have less margin for error. I dont at all suffer from too high expectations. I knew we more than likely werent a championship team this year. I expected 1-3 losses. I can accept that but I cant accept a team thats not showing hardly any improvement outside of the D. I see an O that is regressing in some ways. I hope this season turns out good and Im wrong, but acting like all is fine like some of you do is delusional. Like I said before LSU is walking a thin line. We arent far away from becoming a legit top tier team. On the other hand we arent far from last year either.
I am being moderate and far more realistic than you. I expect neither a 12-1 championship nor a 7-5 catastrophe and we are right on track for that. We have just five offensive linemen and a quarterback holding this team back. It's a problem may can be fixed this season. Many problems can't--like no kicker, no speed, no size. We don't have those problems. How could we possibly live with the shame of 10-3. :rolleye33:
You give too much credit to opponents and not enough to LSU. It wouldn't be to hard to check out opponents boards and find someone like you saying "we can't do that against LSU or we will get killed".
Im not saying we arent good. LSU has a good D. Im just saying that the teams we have played are all pretty poor teams and we barely scraped by in each game outside of ULL. You can paint the picture as pretty as youd like but the O must step up in order for LSU to do well in the upcoming games. Because the D will eventually have an off game as well.
im not thinking we regress, but that our opponents upcoming are better than those we've already faced. UF=Bama UGA=Arky Aub>MSU OM>UW Tech=ULL ok, vandy>Tulane you said we ONLY have a problem with the offense and that the team is LIKELY to finish up 5-1. i was (preseason) prepared for 4 regular season losses.
