Is a Negatiger any less of a Tiger than a Sunshine Pumper?

There's so much debate and argument on this forum regarding fans who aren't supportive of the current coaching regime. I see the label "Negatiger" being thrown around a lot. I've seen them accused of not being true LSU fans, being counterproductive to recruiting, having no loyalty, being told to stop being LSU fans because they're hurting the program, etc., etc. I've seen it posted that if you can't get behind the coach, then you're not behind the team at all and should STFU and GTFO.

Here's my question. So many of the same sunshine pumping Negatiger hating fans who complain about the negative feelings posted by the Negatigers are also super conservative politically judging by their posts filled with disdain for the current administration and the current president. So should any legal, hard working, taxpaying American who hates the direction they feel the country is being led in STFU and GTFO too? I mean it's more important to support your country than your university or football team, right? Are you any less American for being open and vocal in your dissent about how your country's being run? Are you a traitor to your country if you don't like or support your president?

Or can everyone understand that you can truly support the Tigers and not really care for who's in charge of them or how he's leading them? That not caring for how the coach coaches is not even close to the same thing as not loving and supporting the team. If anyone wants a different coach for their beloved team they're no more disloyal to LSU than any right winger who wants a different president leading their country.

Depends. I feel it is ok to be critical. But i think there is a big difference between a person who has blind faith, and a person who has nothing good to say, ever. I would rather hang out with the blind faith people or be a person of blind faith, than to be a person who just keeps talking about how bad the coaches suck, or how crappy this team is, or how it's an embarrassment to be a Tiger fan, etc, etc.

People need to remember this...... Enjoy the good times, because the bad could be right around the corner. And if you think last year and the year before was bad, man i wish you were alive in the 90's so you would have killed yourself and i wouldn't have to hear all the bullsh!t.

Enjoy it people, we are winning. It may be ugly at times, but winning none the Les. :milesmic::wink:

I think you're looking at a continuum instead of either/or when it comes to fans. You have fans who are hyper-critical bordering on nasty with nothing positive to say ever on one side, and the "blind faith" people who think Miles and his coaches are flawless and the best thing to ever happen to LSU football on the other side. Those people seem to be a small minority on this site (can't speak for TOS as I don't waste my time there). Lots and lots of fans in between, some fall on the "negatiger" side like myself who, while critical of the coaching, only wish the best for our coaches and players and never want them to lose as a pretext for getting rid of a HC and wish Les nothing but success. Some fall more on the "positiger" side where they see the glass half-full all the time. I think the hostility you see is directed toward the people on the extreme end of the spectrum, who really do wish Saban were HC for life at LSU. I don't question how much of a "true fan" the people in the middle are, it's often just a difference in opinion. It's the extremists who incur the wrath of most posters, and rightfully so.

I was not only alive in the 90's, I was on campus then. I remember. Oh I remember. But my point was regarding the glaring hypocrisy of all those that do nothing but bash the president and government and call themselves patriots but berate those who do the exact same thing regarding LSU football.

I'm not a Sunshine Pumper but I too hate when a fan has nothing but negativity either, there's still a lot of great things about the team even if you hate the coach. But that doesn't make them not a fan.

See I wouldn't classify you as a "negatiger" though, even though you have been really critical of the coaching staff, you have admitted when you were wrong. I have been critical of the coaching staff as well, but I also know when I am wrong.

Well as a resident sunshine pumper here is my take.

I think SOME (I said some) of the Negatigers seem to forget that the teams we play, ALSO have fans, and coaches and watch film, they also recruit well, they ALSO have talent.

It is frustrating sometimes for me that unless scores a TD on every down and wins every game Les Miles should be fired. Trust me read the UF game thread.

Lets face it, LSU WILL lose some games, we will go 3 and out, we will blow some covereages and Les WILL make a call or two that WONT work out.

It shouldnt mean we rally the horses and get the lynch mob.

For me, Miles fits us perfectly. Is he perfect NO, is he Nick Saban on the sidelines. NO
BUT he runs a clean program (See UF and UGA), recruits VERY well, we win more games than most, and from time to time put up magical seasons. In the SEC it is all you can ask for.

Funny how many STILL want to run Miles out. I think more now JUST so they feel "They were right" and ignore some undeniable facts. Some need to get over the Nick Saban thing. I am not saying you are wrong or an "Idiot" as I am often called because I support Miles.
I love the "You dont know anything about football if you like Les Miles as LSU's coach"
You dont know a darn thing about me. I just disagree that firing Miles and hiring a new coach is going to suddenly make us never lose a game, or play subpar football.

I get a HUGE kick out of how a negatiger BLASTS Miles over and over again then in the very same posts, talks about how great our Defense is?
Really, so he gets NO credit for the good, but all the blame for the bad.

I like Miles, sure I get mad sometimes like everyone, but in the end we are Louisiana look at our history look at our politicians. We are a Zany group. Miles is Zany. Perfect fit...

Also he represents LSU very well, Urban Meyer to me is a HUGE piece of garbage, the way he behaves, he treats people, and the numerous arrests.

Which would you rather have ?????

So I say everyone chill, we will lose a game or two, we may even get blown out. But in the end its just a game, we ahve a great group of kids, a coach who LOVES LSU, and for once WANTS to be here, and a pretty darn good football team.

Sometimes I cannot defend him, and I dont. I also trust that he knows more about football then 99.9% of the people on this board and maybe JUST maybe all those coaches see and know something we dont in practice. Its possible.

There are people still complaining about the offense, can it get better sure. But it has improved dramatically the last two weeks, and more room to go. What more can you possible ask for at this point. Is he stubborn maybe, but name a person who has gotten that far in a profession that isnt. If he started listening to fans and message boards I would be worried sick for our future.
I love the "I dont give a rats a$$ what people think"
    Awesome......

I myself need to relax sometimes and realize you win some you lose some but in the end what is the product on AND OFF the field. And frankly I like Miles and want him to stay. Regardless of how the season plays out.

Lastly (Sorry this is so long) and most importantly. ALL of us get VERY upset when people make fun of LSU because of Miles. I have several SEC friends and all of them say "we hope Miles never leaves, he is an idiot, ha ha ha" etc.
We also need to get over that. I think that is the main reason people get so upset. They think Miles is embarrassing and gives people a reason to poke MORE fun at Louisiana which is represented by LSU. I get it drives me nuts to. But you know what I tell him.
"He may be an idiot but he is our idiot, and he just beat your schools a$$"
    Shuts them up pretty quick.
My good friend the Razorback always makes fun of Miles, then I show him a picture of the LSU flag flying on the front of his house because his sainted coach got beat by said idiot last year.

interesting..... honestly, i think knee jerk reaction is more commonplace these days. The internet message boards and call in shows have turned into a younger version of a bunch of old men sitting on hickory stumps talkin bout tha weather, and politics. Plus it's alot easier to talk trash, and call people out, and name call, when you don't have to put your face, or your reputation on the line. Here it's a little different, because this is more of a family type message board. Most of us may not agree with anything the other says, but I think for the most part, we respect one another.

It's probably part of the problem that people have different definitions of "negatiger" too.

As for being wrong, I'm lucky if I'm batting .500 most days.

I was in Natchez this weekend watching the game at a small bar with 3 of my boys. One of them is like me and thinks that the Les hate is a little overboard. The other two think that he is a bumbling idiot that is lucky to have the ability to recruit top athletes that love him. The sign that they are true fans is when the folks in the bar were being typical negatigers and complaining at anything and everything they could find, it was pissing them off.

I guess what I am trying to say, if you are doing nothing but complaining and not giving the devil his due, then you are a negatiger and one of those fans I hate. This team is incredibly talented and have improved every week.

By the way some talk you would think that we were 0-6 , not 6-0 and is two games away from controlling our own destiny.

Well in their defense, LSU football is a diversion and Government is life. What Miles does has no impact on my money, health and the future of my children.
