a fat person should never complain about food being too expensive. they could eat the exact same foods they are eating now, just less of them and be healthier. then they could take the money they saved and buy vegetables and be really really healthy.

Man you just can't even comprehend what liberty is. Just because something terrible already happens doesn't mean the government should do more terrible things.

and the foods dont even hurt our health. eating too much of them does. i eat at mcdonalds all the time, but i am very healthy. i dont eat mcdonalds every day and watch two and a half men reruns.

the fatty foods themselves are perfectly fine if you manage them properly. they shouldnt be taxed because some folks cannot manage them.

i dont think cigarettes should be taxed either, but at least your argument holds up in that example because those genuinely are unhealthy. but who am i to tell anyone what they shouldnt be doing?

I think we need a "Frown Tax".
There are many reputable studies that show that unhappy people are less healthy. They have higher blood pressure, they are more susceptible to stress related diseases, and bad attitudes are contageous. Second hand grumpyness can kill ya - given enough time. I mean everybody knows unhealthy people are a drain on society- and therefore costs all of us money.

Now several elite specialists in this field; Norman Vincent Peel, Louis Hay, and Tony Robbins to name a few; all agree that even if inwardly you don't feel happy putting on a happy exterior helps the inside you get better.

So it naturally follows that a frown is just a self indulgent bad habit. And therefore it only makes sense to tax it and make money while we better society. What a great idea.

You're right, however it isn't because of the foolish reason you propose. Instead you should be thankful that republicans would never allow some bs like this to pass because it is big government controlling your life at its finest. If you weren't so blind you might be able to see that.

This is exactly why I said you were a liberal. Thanks for confirming even though I didn't need it.

The big deal is someone hundreds of miles away that you'll never meet is using your wallet to tell you how to live. The big deal is its neve enough, the next joker has to one up the last joker - and therefore find something else to tax you into improvement. You don't care now - but they will eventually get around to things you do care about. Texting causes thumb injuries - TAX IT; what are the long term health costs of tatoos - TAX IT BY SIZE AND COLOR; body piercing exposes the body to increased risk of infection TAX BY THE HOLE.

And of course nothing has cost society more and led to more misery in history than promiscuous sex. I mean do you know the history. What did AIDS cost us - it wasn't about gay sex as it was promiscuous sex that spread the disease. Killed more people than Vietnam - might have cost more also. And all the other STDs. There is a lot of money to be made here. And because I'm a patriot - I may just volunteer to be a Sex Tax Collector. Of course if I presented you with to stiff of a tax bill, we could maybe work together towards a solution.:hihi:

    who determines what healthy is?

and god forbid obesity be controlled with a little something called "personal responsibility". i mean, should we all have to pay for the fatty that sleeps with the cheetos by the bed cause they dont even have the control to wait till breakfast?

instead of taxing "unhealthy" foods, how about a new stimulus package? pay rewards to those that are healthy and/or have a low bmi? of course i am joking, but hell, makes as much sense as the other stimulus packages. it's reward instead of punishment, for the same goal, without punishing those that get the end result right. i'll be waiting for my check.

How about a tax deduction for every pound you loose; or every drop in your diabetes numbers.

no one likes to answer questions, just make condescending remarks. i understand liberty, at least academically. youve never had it and you never will. so what is the bfd? really, adding a minimal tax to some unhealthy foods is the straw that broke the camels back? you all just rant like mad people with no direction.
