I'm no Cowboys fan, but I thought Michael gave a hell of an acceptance speech last night at the NFL Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. Talked for 25 minutes and said all of the right things without any notes.
I've got it Tivo'd, and plan to watch it tomorrow. I originally recorded it to see the Bruce Matthews speech, but have heard that Irvin's speech was incredible.
Kinda thought the same thing. I do not dislike Irvin, but he was a very iffy selection. Seemed like he was grandstanding as usual. He was a great player, but HOF was a stretch. Close in my opinion, but.... But he sure could talk a good game, and his speach seemed like it was prepared to show up everyone of the other selectees. Don't flame me, that was just my take on the deal.
He was a man and owned up to his mistakes. Not many people would publicly and in front of his peers admit his wrongdoings. I thought, in a small way, that MI made up for his mistakes last night. I gained some respect for him last night and I hope he does good by his kids.
bingo. i guarantee you when Barry Bonds gets into the HOF, he won't be the man Michael was. everyone makes mistakes, and the HOF represents on-field excellence, which is what Irvin was: excellent.
As a resident of Dallas during the 90s everytime I watched the speech which was good. I couldnt get the vision out of my mind when he got busted. He would wear satin boxers with $ signs on them, snort blow and watch hookers perform acts on each other as he would indulge in violent self abuse. Classic.....
The NFL HoF has it right. Admittance into the Hall is supposed to be based upon on-field performance, not whether they should be part of the Big Brother program. Were it not for their on-field abilities, not a single one of us would give a damn about what they did in their personal lives.
nope and it's sad, too, because he did what a million other people do every day: bet on his team. imo, if he betted against his own team, then fry his ass, but he never did.
