The last of the active combat troops left Iraq today. 50,000 left to handle civilian missions, training, probably some special forces strikes, etc. Well done Obama. I think everyone was tired of this one.
I believe it is, but I the buffoonery of a certain few in the FSA has pushed me into retirement of discussing such events.
Don't let petty stuff like that keep you out, it's a big deal man. I didn't think he could do it this quickly. I know the place is still screwed up and unfortunately the far left will hammer him because anyone is still over there. But this is a war that nearly everyone believed was right, quickly went south on us, and has chewed up a lot of good kids. Getting closer to some sort of conclusion is a pretty big deal for me. I don't agree with hardly anything Obama has done, but I won't forget this.
It is very significant, the bigger question is what will become of that giant ash tray. I think it was time to get out of there. It is too costly in both lives and money and while the very slim hope of something that resembles democracy catches on there is huge, I don't like its chances. You guys have no idea of how bad the corruption over there is and it will not be long before they are in worse shape than before this all started. At least that is my opinion. Sad as it may be I think they needed someone like saddam to govern them. Before any of you knuckleheads get all fired up I will clarify my statement. They need to be ruled with an iron fist. saddam was a nutjob but he kept those effers in line. Without some sort of draconian rule they will run wild like the animals they are.
I think its a big deal for the same reasons you listed. Now with Afghanistan, I have no idea what to really think about that one.
nearly everyone believed it was right because we were spoonfed a bunch of garbage and lies about weapons of mass destruction, and how we are "fighting them there, so we won't have to fight them here". It's a very big deal. Thank you to the brave men and women who fought and gave their lives over there in that hell hole. Luckily everyone i know that went is home now, albeit they aren't the same, one has 3rd degree burns on over 90% of his body from an IED that blew up the hummer he was running the 50 on, but he is alive. It's nice that the President delivered on his promise.
I have friends that have come back with stories, I just dont believe. So you are right, they deserve more than a thank you!!
