Loose definition to be sure. Let me use clearer language. In the former, I meant "crazy" as in deranged. I don't think that Iranians are insane, foolish, and reckless about starting a war with the US. They are pragmatic in this sense, not suicidal. In the later I meant "crazy" as in farcical. I think the religious mullahs that are the shadow power in Iran are out of touch with their own people, with the secular government, and with the 20th century.
This is a silly argument. Because Bush was willing to go to war at the drop of a hat, he scared nations like Iran straight. Except we're still dealing with the same issues that Bush saber-rattled about. I can't believe you've bought into the terrorist angle. There is no way our government can guarantee us safety, chasing the illusion of security is a waste of money that could be spent on paying off debt and/or reducing taxes for people to spend as they like. Some terrorists attacked us on 9/11, we could have responded quickly (but Bush took a left turn to Iraq because he really wanted to leave a void the world would hold us accountable for). If some more terrorists attacked us we'd get to the bottom of it under Paul and snuff it out. No more galavanting around the world wasting time, money, and the lives of American soldiers. Paul would continue to have relationships with foreign nations, we'd just take our fingers and toes out of dykes around the world and let the levees settle or those threatened with flooding fill the voids. Reduce domestic welfare. Reduce foreign welfare. Embrace liberty and push to make America the beacon of liberty it once was. That is the only thing that ever made America exceptional, executing god's will, the greatest experiment ever devised. There will always be people who don't like us. Ron Paul and his followers aren't naive, despite the shallow impression many form. We believe in America's greatness and our ability to defend ourselves and we refuse to live in fear. If our founders were as scared as the majority today we'd all be talking with british accents. Cheerio.
Wait... what???? Does this only apply when Republicans are in charge? This statement by you is fookin crazy, man. If we can't remember why we want to go to war, I don't think we need to be going to war. And if we can't get the votes, we really don't need to be going to war.
The war powers act is a disaster. We should call a war what it is -war. Congress has the right to declare war , not a president. We shouldn't send soilders into battle without a declaration of war by congress. We didn't do it in ww2 and shouldn't be doing it any other time.
