Hello, I have been viewing this board for a couple of months and thought I would introduce myself and my path to becoming a LSU fan. I grew up in Memphis, TN and everyone in my family is a die hard Memphis fan. I grew up hating UT and Ole Miss. I was always a Memphis fan, but in my freshman year of high school I developed a second love. I never really knew of anyone who was a LSU fan, but one day I was at a friends house and borrowed a hat from him. It was an LSU hat (thank God). I wore it alot over the next few weeks, and was surprised that wherever I went I would find strangers yelling at me Geaux Tigers (although at the time I didn't know that was how to spell it). I started following LSU and became a casual fan. Senior year it was time to apply for colleges. I naturally applied to LSU and Memphis. Memphis offered me a full scholarship which made up my mind for me. In college one of my fraternity brothers, who is also a huge LSU fan made me write a paper on the history of the Chinese Bandits as a pledge activity. I loved it, and thats when my passion grew. I know some will always think of me as a bandwagon fan or whatever, but I consider myself a die hard. I still go to Memphis games and root for my Alma Mater, but my first love is LSU. I have only been able to attend one game (UF in 2007) but it was the best day of my life, next to my marriage. All my friends (even though most of them aren't LSU fans) know that every saturday in fall I will be grilling out or cooking gumbo and watching the LSU game. I have even converted my wife who also went to Memphis. I have been trying to take her to a game, but being a young married couple we can not afford tickets. But I am saving up for next year (or possibly Omaha) and we will be there. Geaux Tigers and thanks for having me
If you hate Ole Miss and Tennessee, you're one of us for sure.. (just kidding) Welcome to the board TIGER :thumb:.
And just to clear it up, I meant UT as in the Volunteers, not the horns. But I don't like the horns either. Haha
Hey, I'm in a similar boat. I grew up in Baton Rouge but my Dad got transferred to Memphis. We looked at LSU, but couldn't afford out of state. I'm still a die hard LSU fan though, living in Collierville. My Dad moved back to Lafayette and I go to about 4 games a year. My brother is 12 years younger, a recent LSU grad, and an enrollment recruiter. I do love Memphis Tiger basketball though, and am hopeful Porter gets the Memphis job (and brings Crowton with him):hihi:
I don't wish Crowton on anyone, especially a team I root for, haha. We live in Germantown. Are you in the LSU Alumni Club in Memphis? I met some of the guys at Dan Mac watching the Auburn Game. I've been thinking about joining, but not sure how it is.
Welcome bro, always good to see another LSU fan. Doesn't matter what route got ya here, the important thing is you're a fan of the best football program in the country.
Crowton would be a step up and would have 3 good years haven't gone to alumni club, I've converted most of my friends to have LSU as their B team...
