I just listened to Mr. Finebaum for the first time. I only lasted 15 minutes, because the topic was Penn State. I will try again another day.
If you don't want to listen to the Bama-Barner war, don't listen. He may be national on Sirius, but it's still a show about Bama & Auburn. And, yes, he hates LSU based on his year of working the LSU beat for the Shreveport newspaper. GEAUX TIGERS
Sorry, but that's not what he said. His exact comment was'my damn STRONG football team'. Might not seem like a big deal, but that was a poignant moment in LSU football history, so need to make sure we get that one right. :thumb: Why would that cause him to hate us?
Quote by Winston: It is an interesting mixture of lunitics Gumps vs Barners good sports talk and wierdness. Finebaum is a great interviewer but he allows callers an almost unlimited forum and some of the craziest calls are heard there. He hates Louisiana and until recently thought Miles a foole (huis words), He is comtemptous of all other SEC schools except Ga. Yeah ... he loves to listen to the Gumps & Aubbies vent on his show ... It's hilarious Finebaum is a Tenn homer (alum), so I wonder about the Bama love I wonder about this as Sports Illustrated had Bama as their # 1 all year!
Not really sure, but that's what he always says. He thinks Baton Rouge and Tiger Stadium are dumps. He thinks Cajuns are inbred idiots. He thinks the entire culture of LSU football is backwards and deranged. Now, it is true that he may only think that because he is playing to his AMAB/Auburn audience, but you never know. After all, he is essentially the only afternoon sport-talk guy in the state. I do know that in 02 he was the one who kept the rumor about the fake Saban "*********s with numbers on their helmets" peptalk alive long after the author came forward. It was the main topic of his show for days. He wouldn't believe Jim Hawthorne when he said it didn't happen and essentially wouldn't believe anyone until Saban himself left practice so he could call Finebaum's show to say it didn't happen. He also wasn't a Saban fan until he got early word that AMAB was pursuing him. At that point, he switched from Saban being an egomaniac to Saban being responsible for every win in LSU history, past, present or future. Once he started touting that Saban would leave the Dolphins, he couldn't back down from the meme. Bottom Line: Don't trust Finebaum. He will turn on you quickly. If AMAB plays us in the BCSNCG (like he is fully shouting for), he will disavow this article and turn back to the "Miles is an idiot" line. GEAUX TIGERS
