Interesting talk about the BCS on espn.com (lots of LSU chatter)

Interestingly, LSU was discussed more than any other team, btw.

FYI: For those not up on the lingo, non-AQ refers to non-automatic qualifier, i.e., Boise State and TCU.

"Going 11-1 in the SEC and beating five ranked teams is usually going to trump going 12-0 in one of the non-BCS conferences in the minds of most voters. Plus, there's a respect factor there for making it through the SEC with only one loss that carries a lot of weight (fairly or unfairly)"

"How's the grass out in Glendale?"

"Only loss was by a touchdown to then No. 1 Auburn on the road. "

Ted Miller:
"I think if you have 2 undefeated non-AQ, and a 1-loss SEC, you have an SEC-non-AQ final... folks would rather see that..."

Chris Low:
"Yep, going to be hard to sell a non-AQ vs. a non-AQ"

Andrea Adelson:
"If my math is correct, the avg margin of victory for Boise State over Nevada in the last 3 years is about 6 points. "

"Still would love to see Boise vs. an SEC team"

"Chris: you'll get to see Boise against an SEC team in Atlanta next season."

"Any way we can get the Mad Hatter out to Boise? Wonder what that blue grass would taste like?"

So there is still plenty of talk that with Auburn losing twice (and maybe even once although I tend to doubt it) and Oregon losing a game, that a 1 loss LSU would play the higher BCS team out of Boise State and TCU.

 

Obviously Oregon could lose to Oregon State as well (I am sure you meant either/or).

But how exactly do the voters insure that we don't have a Boise State/TCU matchup? Do they get together somewhere in a nuclear bomb shelter and plot all this stuff out? I am not in disagreement that the voters may very well respond in this manner, I just question the logistics.

Computer Polls, voting patterns, etc.....

It's a mess if it comes to that kind of decision making.

 

Wisconsin plays a Northwestern team at home that has no QB (who was their best player before the season ending injury).

We play a near top 10 Arkansas on the road.

There's no contest.

Of course Wisconsin could win 83-21 again. They seem to pride themselves in that kind of thing.
