Last night on ESPN College FB Scoreboard the stat they quoted was Les Miles has lost his last eight straight to: Urban Meyer Nick Saban Bobby Petrino Houston Nutt (going back to Arkansas)
And while Miles deserves some criticism for this, since he is the HC... I think our very pathetic offensive game plan is the reason for our SEC record the last 2 seasons. You can not score 16 points on offense against Ole Miss or anyone else in the SEC and expect to win... won't happen. Imo, a new OC buys Miles enough time to finish his contract out strong, if not then... well we move on on that front as well.
I think that those who have the blinders on will point to 50 wins in 5 seasons, bowl wins, and of course a National Championship. However, to me this is a very telling statistic. Obviously those are the teams you need to beat in order to be great. We're not beating them even though our players are as good as or better than theirs in every case (except maybe Florida - debateable). Bowl wins are coming against inferior non SEC competition. 6 or 7 wins a year come against inferior non conference opposition, in state cupcakes, and SEC bottom feeders. Over the last 2 seasons, LSU hasn't really beaten anybody they weren't supposed to beat.
i'm quite confident the same 2 guys will be coaching Miss St. and Auburn next year. so i repeat Miss St + Auburn = more than 1
Don't look for Crowton to be fired this year, but if he does not establish an offense next year he will likely go.
Crowton is out at the very least. I think we're ranked #112/112 now.. or very very close. There's no excuse for that. Mccarthy, Crowton, Stud.. are all out. We're going to see a major staff overhaul.
