Wow, five to six thousand empty seats for the Bama game. 86,766 actual in attendance!

I understand why people get upset at the students but most people that go to school at LSU aren't hardcore football fans. Half are girls that go because some boy does. There are tons of students from different states on scholarship that bought tickets because they could, but dont plan on going to all the games. People always talk about how the student section was different back in the day, but the University was a lot different back then too.

Perhaps it would be different if the students were forced to make a payment of 900 dollars when ordering tickets and their accounts were credited 100 dollars every time they swiped their card at a game.

Out of state students should be no less fans. I was from out of state on a scholarship, and I knew tons others. More than a couple of those have LSU rooms in their Alabama/California/wherever-they-ended-up homes. Very few of them were fans before going to school. I couldn't have cared any less about LSU until the first day I stepped foot on campus, which just so happened to be the same day I decided that's where I was going. To me and my friends, that's just what LSU does. It changes you. Why is that different now? I'm not THAT old. The only difference I see is that my class fell in love with a school/team that was terrible at football. I could never even remember a time when LSU football was relevant.

Wishful thinking. Unless we get a cricket team the 4,000 students from India are going to focus on engineering...not LSU athletics.

This is the craziest thing I've ever heard.
Must be the video game generation, short memory and attention span.
I simply can't believe that would occur over an 8 year time span.

By the way, most of the cops on River Road happen to be the biggest a$$$$holes on earth. I'm speaking from experience with some others. They want to be important so bad...but they're traffic cops at the end of the day.

Alleva's disappointed about fans booing? Well I'm disappointed that LSU schedules boring games most of the time outside of the SEC these days. I'm disappointed that LSU cops act like complete a$$$$holes most of the time toward people that are spending their hard-earned money on campus and in the stadium. I'm disappointed that LSU screws people on parking passes. I'm disappointed that we can't get a clock to work in Tiger Stadium. I'm disappointed that all of our decent games were in the day with the sun beaming down on us. Maybe we can meet and work things out.

I don't know...I've been going to games for years and was in the student section quite a bit. It looked pretty damn full for Bama to me. I don't know how many people they're trying to squeeze in there, but it didn't look like it was just 86% filled or whatever. Oh well, who knows...

I have a solution to the Troy Trojans attendance problem - schedule the USC Trojans instead. Or a team that people might actually be interested in.

-But I am happy Troy was on the schedule instead of USC this year. That would not have been pretty...or fun.

LOL, from the movie The Program: "When was the last time 80,000 people showed up to see a kid do a damn chemistry experiment?" Best line of the whole movie.

Ummmm, yeah, let me break out my cane as I wander down memory lane. My first two years at  a student could just walk into the stands by showing their student ID at the gate and having it punched with a hole puncher. No extra payment, no tickets, no nothing, just waltz in. And the section was crowded. In 1983 the :tigerhead sadly went 4-7 with a goose egg and 6 in the SEC but I was in the student section when we played Washington and set an attendance record of more than 82,000 when capacity was less than 80,000. There were literally students sitting in the aisles.

Then came Broadhead and he wanted to institute a system where students had to pick up tickets. It'll never happen, we said, and even marched on the Athletic Department. It happened. Then after I left, there was move to have students pay for tickets. It'll never happen, we said. But it did.

Nowthis. Could this happen? Yep. And that's a shame because EVERY student deserves to be let into the stadium before anybody else gets a ticket. I understand this is big time college football and lots of you pay lots of money to get into the stadium. And I understand that we ALL love our :tigerhead. But our teams (ALL of them) play for the university and the university is the students. And the students should be allowed to attend ANY athletic event they wish to attend.
