It'll never happen. There's a waiting list for season tickets, so when one guy drops out, there's a hundred other guys waiting to scoop those up.
What the hell?? Why are students not going. When I was at LSU you could not have packed any more students in the section and we sucked half the time.
Steps to resolve the attendance issues: (actual & leaving early) 1) WIN 2) Play quality OOC opponents (Tulane is NOT our rival!) 3) Create a better traffic plan 4) WIN
Complacency. I started in the fall of '99, the last year of the dark ages. Even a 22 year old senior in this year's class was only 13 at that time. They don't remember what it was like to be terrible, and thus have a sense of entitlement. Even those that do remember are too far removed.
yeah but for a student, an LSU game is an LSU game. At least it should be, Middle Tennessee State or Florida. The student section should always be full, and if not, make it gen pop.
Well, if Alleva is complaining about attendance at football games than he better not got to the PMAC for hoops. In all seriousness, LSU keeps upping the price per seat to watch a game in Tiger Stadium. But yet the quality of product I and others get isn't worth the price of the seat. What I mean is this, when you go to buy a Polo Shirt you expect to get a high quality shirt with the polo guy swinging the mallet, not some Dollar General shirt. When Alleva and Verge Ausberry schedule LSU to battle for the La. Class 6A title versus Tulane, Tech, ULL and ULM or the Sun Belt title each year instead of playing a quality opponents than they are going to get fewer butts in the seats.
Students need to be held accountable for attending games, in my opinion. If they (we) are getting tickets for $8 each when people would gladly pay face value, then there should be restrictions. I would be in favor of students losing their season tickets if they miss a game, but that would cause controversy of "What if I have a legit reason." I know a big problem currently is that students purchase season tickets knowing they probably won't attend because they have a job or other things. It's just $100 or so. And for the younger crowd, their parents are probably paying that anyway. I would be in favor of a priority point system for football, similar to what is in place now. 20 points for attending a game. However, I would maybe subtract 80 or 100 for a game missed. If you don't have positive points for the next season, you can not get tickets. Hey! That's me! I was actually at those games in the late 90's, despite my age. But you are correct about all of that. Hell, anyone who is younger than me (5th year senior) never saw a single game under Saban as a student.
By the way, the actual copy of the Reveille today had a table of how many student no-shows there were for each game. It is very relevant to the article and I do not know why they didn't publish it online. That is why I am mad about this. The student section did not even get to 90% capacity for the #1 team in the nation.
