I wanna play the rules game too. Meaning of the Terms: Catch, Interception, Recovery ARTICLE 7. A catch is an act of firmly establishing player possession of a live ball in flight. a. A catch of an opponent’s fumble or pass is an interception. b. Securing player possession of a live ball after it strikes the ground is “recovering it.’’ c. To catch, intercept or recover a ball, a player who leaves his feet to make a catch, interception or recovery must have the ball firmly in his possession when he first returns to the ground inbounds with any part of his body or is so held that the dead-ball provisions of Rule 4-1-3-p apply (A.R. 2-2-7-I-V and A.R. 7-3-6-IV). 1. If one foot first lands inbounds and the receiver has possession and control of the ball, it is a catch or interception even though a subsequent step or fall takes the receiver out of bounds.
I like how he tries to use the zooms in lame attempt to prove his point. I for one can't say that his foot was down in the picture, but look at this picture and see the shadow from his foot being off the ground.
Ok, we've established that there's some obscure rule covering a scenario completely different than the one from yesterday. I'm still waiting for someone to show me where JJ touched the ball. He never touched it. If true, wonder why ole 'Wild Eye' didn't explain this at the time of the call. Somebody was poring over the rule book after the fact looking for ANY possible 'out', no matter how much of a reach it is. Even Bama knows the win was tainted or they wouldn't be putting so much effort into explaining why it was the 'right' call.
There was no bobble of the ball, once it touched Peterson's hands, he caught it. Jones was behind Peterson and Peterson caught the ball in front of Jones. If Jones ever touched the ball, it was AFTER Peterson caught it in bounds, and so BamaJoker's rule would not apply at all. Peterson intercepted the ball and got at least one foot down, it was never bobbled in the slightest, he had control of the ball before going out of bounds.
I listened to the Sunday night LSU radio show hosted by Jordy Hultburg (spelling?) just a few minutes ago. He said Miles was LIVID after the game in his dressing room. Jordy says Joe Alleva came into Les Miles dressing room and said, "I watched the replay 50 times. It was 50-50. Don't say anything about the call just yet. We'll send the video in to the SEC offices and get an explanation." :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
great. we need an ad that will man up, instead it appears we may have a nutless wonder on our hands. :rolleye33:
