Question: Is Etling any good? Dilemma: Are we whistling in the graveyard ? If Etling is any good how the hell did Harris beat him out? Saving Factor: Miles and Sham are idiots and couldn't find a good qb in their shower. Ergo- Etling could be good and finally has moment to shine. I'm perplexed. Talk among yourselves .
Miles and Cameron are trying duplicate what Cam did with Randle El. Only difference is they are trying to do it with Miles offensive scheme. It's so stupid it's almost comical.
For 1 quarter against an FCS school he was the best QB LSU has had in 3 seasons. I don't think it convinced Miles that Etling is the forever starter this season.
I am just so afraid we have seen this 'backup QB looks better initially' movie before. Hope I am wrong.
Exactly what I have been thinking. But I definitely want to see more of Etling. I think we saw enough last week to know the game went better with him.
He "appears" to have a better QB mind than what we have in BH, but that's where Miles can do damage. If Etling is not who he really wants he will screw it up. I think Cam had to live with BH because he's miles boy, but Etling is the guy Cam wants. If Cam can call the game we will be alright, if Les hijacks the playbook, it will be the same ole story. Maybe Etling will just ignore miles and play the game the way he knows how and the fans can be happy for a while. There was an article somewhere that said how much respect Etling gets from the team because of his work ethic and command of the huddle. This is encouraging to hear.
Anybody else read this? Notice what the anonymous player had to say about qb's in practice! http://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/sports/lsu/article_b428e01c-7b8b-11e6-b938-531c166c13de.html In a nutshell it pretty much confirms what tirk, Shane, and others have been saying, that miles drills into the heads of the QB to stay in the pocket and get pummeled. It also confirms what we've said about recruiting the wrong QB style for our offensive philosophy. I even like the comment to " pick a damn style" by the player. If this is happening it's no wonder our offense is so confused.
@$TigerFan$ There's very little in that article that hasn't been said on this board ad nauseum for several years. The most disturbing Miles trend I see in there is that he seems to coach a sense of fear into his QBs. We've seen game plan after game plan where we've come out a little aggressive on offense. Sometimes it goes well, sometimes it doesn't. It never goes well for 60 minutes, which should be expected; those are quality scholarship football players on the other side of the ball, too; even if the opponent is Jacksonville St. They are occasionally going to make plays. But the sense you get from watching LSU is the moment someone makes a play off our QB, the play calling goes right back to the leather helmet days. How can anyone possibly play QB if its in their heads that the moment they make a mistake, they're going to get cut off at the knees?
