All I'm saying is if Jefferson or Randle, for example, sustains two compound fractures in both legs at tomorrow's practice, all the closed practices and Les double-talk in the world won't hide that from the public for over 2 weeks. Can injuries be hidden from the media? Absolutely. it depends on the player and the severity of the injury. The OP talked about key injuries, and that's what came to mind. Not so much linemen who may be out a week or two after the start of the season that we don't want Oregon knowing about.
Okay, okay. I'm not in complete disagreeance with you btw. I'm just saying it's possible...two compound fractures in two legs...maybe not.
The definition of key injury doesn't have much to do with the severity of it. If an OL is 'knicked' to the point he can't practice, it winds up in every LSU message board, and every LSU internet publication. La'el Collins made the mistake of banging heads with Baker last week and missed a couple practices. It was all over the internet. I don't blame Miles for keeping the gates shut. All it does it create drama. Now, as Red said, Miles can determine what info gets out and what doesn't...and I have no doubt he plays the media all the time.
So what about eligibility? Miles talks like Freak and Shep will both be playing, but Johnson has not been cleared yet and Shepard faces possible suspension. The NCAA is taking its time. Is Les being honest? He made a big deal yesterday about the two freshmen receivers looking good and that they might play early and often due to "circumstance". A circumstance where Shepard was held out, maybe?
LSU is the only place this happens..... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhdoMQcoc0o]Saban Calls Out The Media - YouTube[/ame]
It has been well know that both WR's (Landry and OBJ) have taken in all that was thrown at them. Too much talent to sit the bench. This is a place where both are able to help. For Landry, just throw it his way, with OBJ its YAC.
