Correct. The teams Boise plays from here on out (and even TCU to a large extent) are teams ranked from #75 to #110 in the respective computer polls. They will take a hit for that. By year's end a 1 loss BCS team could have a better computer poll ranking than an undefeated Boise State or TCU. McNeese game should have NEVER been scheduled.
We cannot count out Ole Miss either. Houston Nutt always struggles early, but they seem to figure out how to play towards the end of the year. Don't count them out folks, that game will NOT be a cakewalk.
There's 2 ways to look at it. I think the team needs a breather before the brutal part of the schedule kicks in.
then we should have scheduled a team USL, or Southern Miss, or Memphis. I agree though we do need a breather game, and it's nice to keep the money in state.
Yes, and I meant we should have never scheduled a non FBS school. It kills you even worse than scheduling a horrible FBS school (i.e., Div II vs horrible Div I team). Schedule Washington State or Rice or Maryland.
It's fairly evident that Ohio State year afteer year is nothing more than a paper tiger. I will saythat they seem a little better than years past, but in the end, they usually get abused by a quality SEC school in the bowl games. LSU has a brutal schedule the rest of the way. Auburn, Alabama and Arkansas are no picnic. To come through that gauntlet unscathed would have to EASILY put LSU in the driver's seat for a trip to Glendale. Just gotta get that quartrback play in line. Sure looked better this week than in weeks past though.
Ohio State's got 3 games in which they could potentially lose. This week @ Wisconsin. They close out the season @ Iowa (that's the one I think they will lose) and then Michigan at home. If Michigan can lock Greg Robinson in a closet before the start of that game, maybe they will have a chance. I don't know if they could even recover from a loss to Wisconsin and surpass either TCU or Boise State, as early in the BCS season as that would be. That's assuming perfect seasons for both TCU and Boise. They certainly won't recover from a late season loss to Iowa. They would be toast at that point (again, assuming TCU and Boise run the table). I also don't think a 1 loss SEC team will surpass either TCU or Boise State. We're not ahead of them now in the upcoming BCS standings, add a loss to either LSU or Auburn and it's probably over. The SEC CG obviously helps, but with the East being so weak, it may not be enough. We actually need to hope South Carolina runs the table. That's the only way the SEC CG would have enough impact for a 1 loss SEC West opponent to jump an undefeated TCU or Boise State. Still not sure if that would even be enough. It would be close. Bama stands the best chance at doing it since they lost their game early enough in the season and are going to ranked decently high in the BCS come Sunday. South Carolina and Arkansas are next in line to possibly pull off the feat. Auburn and LSU would be a stretch since the loss would come so much later in the season. Oregon won't go unscathed in the PAC 10. They have it just as brutal as the SEC down the stetch, except for not playing a championship game. Nebraska is the likeliest of the BCS teams to go unbeaten. OU is a somehat flimsy top 10 team and Texas is done. Still, I see an upset down the road, although they benefit from not having to play OU in the regular season. Put an asterisk by that Missouri game played at Nebraska in 3 weeks. I smell upset. Personally, I think we're looking at a TCU/Boise State national championship. For many, that would be sad.
Here is a link from BCS Central with a detailed chart with the numbers. LSU has the highest combined CPU ratings and 0.97 and sitting at #6 overall. preliminary BCS rankings
CJ is a tool ..... but I don't see how the coaches poll is any better than the AP poll. Both polls are fraught with bias and uneducated voters. The system is completely subjective .... Please Help Greg McElroy Find His Mojo
