Anybody find it interesting that a fired coach (or at least a coach that was part of a fireable offense) was bought out at the tune of 3/4 of a million dollars? This was in exchange for Sampson agreeing to never sue the university for being fired in the first place. And a booster paid $500,000 of that. Indiana really handled this entire Sampson debacle poorly. Sampson should have been let go back in October when he had the previous allegations/offense but Indiana chose to look the other way. Of course many people believed he should have never been hired. Sampson's career is effectively over. Any school wishing to hire him will have to plead their case in front of the ethics/rules committee as to why they think he should be hired.
understood, just suspend him without pay, have the hearings and then fire him when the inevitable comes out
Why not, just say his behavior is embarrassing the University. I would hope that all contracts have behavior clauses. Hell considering what he did to Oklahoma, Indiana would have to be stupid not to include something like that in they contract. Hell, the Sean O'Keefe was "fired" for less.
That inappropriate character isnt official until after the hearings, which wont be until this summer.
i believe there was a clause about all of that as fireable offenses. i remember reading it in the paper here, i just dont remember exactly how it was phrased.
It does not have to be official. All Indiana needs to say is that his actions have brought undo press coverage and has shown the University in a negative light. No need for official. Just the fact that there is a big review should be enough.
