Let's please put this to rest, because I'm tired of seeing it mentioned everywhere.

LSU will NOT BE GOING TO THE INDEPENDENCE BOWL.

The reason is simple. There will not be enough bowl eligible teams in the SEC for the Independence Bowl to have one. Period.

So let us PLEASE put this to rest. Thanks, and Geaux Tigers! :thumb:

    Still mathematically possible brother.
Independance get's the 8th bowl eligible SEC team.

Right now there are 8 Bowl eligible teams fom the SEC.

If 2 teams get BCS bids, then the SEC would be one short.
If Auburn pulls the upset this week, they'll be the 9th Bowl eligible team, and almost guarantee only 1 BCS bowl for the SEC.
Meaning all 9 tie-ins would be filled.

Ok, if hell froze over and Auburn beat Alabama, sure, they would be bowl eligible. However, Jawja would then likely go to the BCS over Alabama (unless the world exploded and GT beat them, too), assuming Alabama lost to Florida in the SECCG.

With that said, the papajohns.com bowl would not be able to fill their slot (with Jawja going to the BCS)....and LSU would not be going to the Independence Bowl (in favor of last-place Auburn) even if they were to lose to Arkansas. So it is a moot point.
