Marcus Randal's big day... how can I forget that one with a bro in law who graduated from UT?? I'd love to line up against them suckas again too.
I could have told you that. I just checked the spread, and it was only 3.5 -- anybody have a theory on why it was so low? I figured Bama would at least be favored by 7.
Shhhhhhhh...........not so fast, my friend. Hey I have nothing against the SEC as a whole..it just has a lot of teams I don't like in it....Florida and Alabama topping that list...followed by Tennessee, Ole Miss, Georgia, and now Arkansas (hey, after that last bout of 'tardedness over there with Mustain, Malzahn, Nutt and co....who wouldn't?)....and, as an LSU fan, I think I have rights to dislike Auburn, though I don't dislike them as much as those previously mentioned. I have nothing against, USCe, UK, Vandy, or MSU...especially MSU.
Sure Colorodo beat 11-2 Oklahoma, but Alabama beat down 9-4 Tennessee 41-17. And sure Bama lost to 6-6 ULM, but Colorado lost to 3-9 Iowa State. Anyway, here's one way to look at the talent of the two teams, by looking at how they did in recruiting. Here are the Scout and Rivals rankings that each team got over the last several years. Sure, it's not perfect, but its another way to get an idea of how the teams stack up. Alabama Seniors (2004 recruiting class) -- Scout #19, Rivals #15 Juniors (2005 recruiting class) -- Scout #16, Rivals #18 Sophomores (2006 recruiting class) -- Scout #18, Rivals #12 Freshmen (2007 recruiting class) -- Scout #22, Rivals #10 Colorado Seniors (2004 recruiting class) -- Scout #49, Rivals #49 Juniors (2005 recruiting class) -- Scout #44, Rivals #43 Sophomores (2006 recruiting class) -- Scout #50, Rivals #48 Freshmen (2007 recruiting class) -- Scout #35, Rivals #32 And if y'all are curious who the players to watch are in this game, this is who Rivals ranked as having the best season at their positions: Alabama #9 DE in the country (Wallace Gilberry) #21 WR in the country (DJ Hall) Colorado #4 LB in the country (Jordon Dizon)
Also, even though Colorado beat Oklahoma, nobody considered them a top 25 team. The Oklahoma Sooners just choked (they were a 23-point favorite), just like Bama did with ULM, just USC like did with Stanford, and just like Michigan did with Appy State. Here's how the Tide and Buffs did in the AP Poll this year: Alabama NR NR NR 16 22 NR NR NR 22 17 21 NR NR NR NR NR Colorado NR NR NR NR NR NR NR NR NR NR NR NR NR NR NR NR
Man that was painful to watch. I had Alabama -3.5 figured I could go to sleep after 27-0 didnt realize they would just fold their tents get 3 the rest of the game yet give up 24... Well its a win. Now when my Oklahoma friends can zip it.
