Crowton had tried that the series before. It did not turn out well.

You cannot say you understand Hatch doesn't have a strong arm and then say go for the long pass. He physically cannot do this.

I am suggesting a fade pass where he physically throws it 10-15 yards in a quick release along the sideline and let the receiver run under it - that is what I am saying and what he is capable of. It would also be unexpected, which is what most seem to like about CGC - unpredictability. At that point in the game, that would have been a great call rather than an end around, IMO.

All of this is great, but you are not taking into account the defense. You can't throw a fade if the DB is giving a 5-10 yard cushion. It's easy to bash the offense now that we've seen the results. Try calling out plays in the press box on every play knowing you'll be heavily criticized by thousands of LSU fans if any of them doesn't work...not so easy.

I totally agree with you - its always easy being the couch QB. Having said that, IMO, that was a pivotal moment in the game. I just think it is a microcosm of what frustrates me about his playcalling. A quick strike, or a play to your strength (running CS) seems like a obvious thing to me at that moment in the game with momentum our way. I thought that and told that to the group I was watching the game with at that moment, not later. That particular pass may not work, but at least the play goes down swinging, or again, just run the damn ball up the middle and get positive yards.

Crowton has done a very good job for us. He is a good fit here and he's never had the weapons he's enjoying at LSU. I wouldnt go as far as calling him a genius because he makes some odd calls here and there and didnt substitute Hatch and Lee at the right times today. Overall he is a good play caller but the previous comments about him being "too cute" at times are accurate. Lets stick with whats working and use the right QB in the right situations.

That being said, the offense did not lose this game despite the turnovers. When you score 38 points that should be good enough for a win.

Im more concerned with the "tudes" that seem to be developing on the team, especially the defense. Lets get that chit in check.

You know, someone else in another post points out that we are always coming from behind and states that if Crowton called the game backwards from the 4th qtr that we would be ahead more often and earlier. I think he has a great point and observation. Maybe our defense would not look so bad if we were playing more straightforward on offense and not putting them in difficult situations.

That's it for me. I have responded way too much and need to call it a night. Geaux Tigers no matter what!!!

I'm not saying he's a bad play caller. He calls great plays, but he always seem to wait until the 2nd half to get the O going. He needs get out of this 1st half circus he calls with the green QB. You run the ball and control the clock. If we can't run with our stable of RB's and o-line, we don't deserve to win.

Go back and watch just the SEC games he's called since he's been here. It wasn't just FLA & AU last year and this year. How soon we forget those cardiac games last year of winning on the last series in the game.

Just really Frustrating to watch us get blown out!

    kudos to that.

i agree crowton is spectacular. he keeps teams so offbalance with things most wont notice unless they pay close attention. whether its a formation, a motion, a tendency.

    he is impressive.

he sets up defenses possibly as good as any OC ive seen.
