The guy is an incredible play caller. Picture a stagnant offense with a green QB. He still can keep teams off balance.

    Here's to you GC!

    Crowton is a genius.

Remember the last time we had a raw QB in 04, we had a hard time putting 24 points on the board, and that was with one of the best defenses in the nation giving us more possessions and great field position.

The play calling isn't the issue. It's Lee's lack of execution in disguising the play effectively.

He'll get a lot better. And we'll score 45 instead of 32 ppg.

I agree. The play calling has been exceptional the last couple of years.

I really like how Crowton uses all of our weapons- Scott/Williams/Murphy/Holliday in the backfield, all the WR/TE, and even both QB's.

It spreads the ball around, keeps the opposing D off balance, and gives us the chance to have fresh legs on each play. We attack with multiple formations.

However, sometimes he tries to get a little too cute. On 2nd and 4, give me the Power I with Scott going behind Big Herman. Seems like that play is REAL effective to me....

I agree and give him cudos. He has several weapons, but plenty of shortfalls as well. I can only hope our Oline is as talented as our backfield will be in two years.

He has been able to install packages for several players, and then alter the package to limit their predictability. Pretty impressive to me, that such a "dysfunctional offense" can still score as well as we do. Hope we can hang on to him.

Are you guys serious? What about when UGA misses the long FG with less than a minute in the 3rd Qtr, and we get the ball at our own 45 yd line with momentum and an opportunity to really take advantage. Our first play is a end around to Holliday for a loss? Horrible call. Either let Hatch throw an out to Byrd, or just give it to CS, who was a workhorse and just getting on a roll at that point. I know Hatch can't throw long, but a quick fade pass 10-15 yds along the sideline to Byrd is within his ability and let Byrd or Lafell run under it and see what happens - that, or go with what's working, give the ball to CS on first down.

Another series that frustrated me was prior to above with 8 min. left in the 3rd qtr, we run CS for 6 yds on 1st down, then throw a piss poor pass on 2nd, then are left with a pass on 3rd and 4, which we don't complete, so 2 out of 3 plays end up being passes when we were running the ball so well. Why?

I agree JLee was terrible, and we did run effectively many times, but there were certainly times when CGC did not make good calls. I really don't get how many view him as a "genius". Not saying he isn't good, or doesn't have his moments, but he definitely overthinks sometimes, and does not always play to strengths.

You called for Hatch to throw an out to Byrd?

Hatch isn't much of a passer, if you haven't noticed.

The play call to Holliday was good, Georgia just stayed home on it and credit to them. Otherwise that play might go for 15-20 yards easily.

To me, the backbreaker was the interception by Lee when we had all the momentum down 21-17. We had a real opportunity to burn up the rest of the clock and go in with a 24-21 lead at the half. We were running it on them at will at that point, and I thought we should have stuck with it a little more. Again, Lee has to recognize that the safety didn't bite and hit his check off instead. Lee and them damned growing pains.

Offense isn't the problem. Crowton is doing his job. However, one concern is where is the deep ball? Seriously...D-Byrd and Tolliver are out there with so much potential but it never comes to them. I don't know if it's Lee or Crowton but when we are down big, which seems to be the case lately...we can't always rely on the power running game and the short passing game. We start playing against time then too.

Hatch was the QB at that point, and I know he does not have a strong arm, but with everybody expecting a run, it would be within his ability to throw a fade and let the WR run under it. That has more of a chance than a 5'8" scat back running parallel from one side of the field to the other trying to outrun everybody, not to mention everyone in the stadium expecting that play with him in the game. Did not fool UGA one bit. I sat there before the play ran saying throw an out with man coverage, or run CS and let him get some yards - could not believe that play call b/c it was so deflating to the team after that when we had the momentum and could have gone for the jugular (long pass), or at least got some positive yards on first down to keep the momentum (run CS).

Actually my question at that point in the game was why wasn't Lee back in the game? We needed to pass the ball downfield. Hatch is good for short yardage and inside the 10. But to mount a longer drive all by himself. I thought that ruined whatever chance we had at coming back. Hatch just limits your playbook so much.
