of their fanbases. I mean this is getting pretty bad. I don't know why any coach would want to come to this league.

    1) Ole Miss fires Cutcliffe one season removed from a 10-3 season.
    2) Tuberville is forced to resign after one poor season and a very successful stint prior to that
    3) Ron Zook fired after 3 winning seasons
    4) Fulmer is forced to resign after 17 seasons
    5) Shula was fired one season removed from a 10 win season at a school on probation
    6) Miles will be on the hotseat if LSU repeats another 7-5 season just 2 seasons removed from a NC

I know these guys are getting paid a lot of money but what has happened to patience in this league.

    There is NO patience. WHY?

Because Meyer won a NC in his 2nd season at UF.

Saban has Bama undefeated and ranked #1 in his 2nd season there.

Miles won a NC in his 3rd season at LSU. (Different circumstances)

And Nutt took Ole Miss to a bowl game in just his 1st year.

Everyone wants to be on top. Someone has to finish in 2nd place just as much as someone has to finish last.

A lot of these fanbases need a reality check!

patience went out the window as soon as presidents and ad's were honest with themselves and started running athletic depts as corporations.

then fans became high-dollar customers with seat licensing and mandatory contributions.

most of these fans are real people with families competing with that same money for private schools and food on their table so their expectations for return on their dollar are much higher than in the past.

the schools created this expectation so now they're forced to meet it or live with the unrealistic precedent they set.

right or wrong, its how it is. college is huge business and most of those kids arent there for educations.

and that bell cant be unrung.

I went to LSU during the Hallman/Dinardo Era. LSU fans in particular have gotten rather spoiled. I remember waiting in line overnight for student tickets to the first Independence Bowl (back when it was the Poulan Weedeater) and being so excited to go to a bowl game. The fanbase was so jazzed to go to a bowl game. Now unless it is the BCSNCG, LSU fans will not show up. The GA Dome last year at the SECCG was disgraceful. The LSU sections were full of Tenn fans, because a lot of LSU fans sold their tickets because it would have taken alot of improbable things to happen for LSU to play in the NCG. I have gone to the SECCG game and all three times we have won but the other fanbase was really well represented compared to LSU. LSU will get hammered this year for future bowl considerations when LSU gets the Peach Bowl and like 5000 fans show up, because we as fans are too spoiled for the Peach Bowl.

Universities always think the next greatest coach is right around the corner instead of having patience for what they have in front of them....

someone linked to an article before the season saying that someone was gonna get the axe soon in the SEC.
too many good highly paid coaches for them to all succeed.
Don't think that author knew there was going to be 3 guys sh!tcanned though.

I wouldn't say universities always think the next greatest coach is around the corner.
That could be said for any sports team or franchise, examples, Al Davis and any fan base for any team when things don't go as well.
Some Bronco fans have been saying the same thing about Mike Shanahan.
This is the world we live in today.
I've often said that we live in a microwave society meaning we have to have our instant gratification, success now and always.

We may be spoiled a bit but I would argue that the bar has been raised.
If Les Miles can maintain the program at a level similar to what he inherited he will be fine but if he can't he will be known as the second coming of Larry Coker or Gerry Dinardo.
Is that fair to him, probably not but it is the world we live in.
I will argue that the SEC and the West has NEVER been stronger.
All you have to do is look at the coaches in this league, it is difficult and probably will get worse, meaning it will be harder to win in this league.

I will also say that there is no way our ship shouldn't be fixed next season.
Saban has turned around Bama in one year and If I remember right LSU in two.
The LSU program that Les Miles inherited is and was in better shape than what Nick Saban inherited at Bama.
There is no reason why we should lose 4 or 5 games next season but let me just say that it is quite different to lose close games vs being blown out.

In the last 12 years the SEC has seen Spurrier, Fulmer, Meyer, Saban and Miles win National Championships and Tubbs get snubbed for one, and now either Saban or Meyer can win a second. The SEC has had a ton of success in college football and now expectations are higher than what they are in other conferences. The atmosphere will only get worse as now 10+ wins a season is the desire and for some teams the norm.

Agreed - I was at the SECCG last year and felt the exact same way. It's shocking to me to even see the difference between Tiger Stadium in 2003 compared to now. It seemed back then that whenever the visiting team scored, we got louder and more obnoxious. Now, the winds come completely out of our sails, Tiger stadium falls silent, and as soon as there is a bad play, we boo. I graduated in May and last year I can say I was becoming annoyed with how spoiled everyone in the student section was. It was as if we expected to win every game and as soon as there was a sign of trouble everyone whined rather than supported the team. Hell, all great programs have a down year here or there, it was bound to happen.
