Is Mickey Loomis not the most underrated GM in the NFL? I mean, really. The dude is a fuckin wizard. He gets props from the REAL fans, but he is really the reason why the Saints are the Saints. I got mad respect for Loomis, brah.
I recall when he was dismissed as a "bean counter". He definitely has a knack for making things fit under the cap. I hope he can work similar miracles for the Pels.
Dude is incredible. Gets the most coveted free agent in for a visit and doesn't let him leave town. And he doesn't overpay.
Agreed. It was a pretty steep price. Today many will consider it to be overpaid, much like Brees' contract in 2005. I think time will show it to be a bargain.
Sproles to the Eagles for a 5th round pick. Fifth round? Anyone else think this is a bit low? Add: Granted, the way this organization gets value out of mid-round picks, a 5th rounder for the Saints is a lot better than it would be for many teams.
At first, I thought a 5th Round pick was a little low for Sproles, but then I thought 2 things: #1 - RBs have been so devalued the last couple of years with the way teams utilize 2 or 3, and #2 we were going to release him which wouldn't have gotten us anything in return. So props to Loomis for getting us an additional draft pick.
Dude, you aren't paying attention. The Saints were going to waive Sproles and get NOTHING for him. Instead, in the 12th hour, they dealt him, unloaded his contract AND got a free 5th round pick out of the deal. Loomis doesn't get "taken to the woodshed". Loomis takes others to the woodshed.
