Here is a good question to gauge who gets more love. Would you swap coaches, Payton for Miles? Sure fire way to tell who the die hards are for either team.
nah, that's no good. there are many that love LSU way more than the Saints and can't wait to swap miles for someone else.
Its the same in Kansas City, Seattle, Cleveland, Detroit, Los Angeles, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Denver, etc. Outside the south, pro fans are just as fanatical as college fans even when they have upper echelon college teams in their area. Even in Nashville the Titans rival Tennessee in fan interest. Saying the two fan bases have different levels of fanaticism is wrong. In New Orleans I believe the Saints are bigger but its probably close. Just listen to Deke and Bobby Hebert. Their show is dominated by Saints talk and it didnt just start the last couple years. New Orleans sports radio has been like that for years. Statewide its a runaway for LSU.
that's how you can tell who the LSU fans are and who the Who Dats are, and which one means more to who, if that makes sense, with me i would trade Miles for Payton in a heartbeat.
In Louisiana it is arguable. I know a ton of folks from all across the state of Louisiana who are ULL, ULM, USM, MS State, Ole Miss, etc fans, but are diehard Saints fans. It would be difficult to judge, however, I'd suspect given LSU's success this decade that they would have won a statewide poll before this Saints season started. Now, if the question is who has more fans overall then it is clearly the Saints because they truly are a Gulf Coast team. There's a lot of SEC fans from Mississippi to Alabama to the Florida panhandle that are diehard Saints fans and despise LSU. I also know a lot of NFL fans from around the world who root and cheer for the Saints (especially post-Katrina) that have never heard of any college team let alone LSU. Either way, I love both.
You saying that there might be a debate as to who New Orleanians are more loyal to, Tigers or Saints?
