Good point. And most of the quotes from players about Mett say that his arm is fantastic. Haven't seen too many player quotes saying that Mett is a good leader. I remember one from Beckham - are there others that I missed? On the other hand, the coaches did pick Mett to represent LSU at SEC Media Days. That has to be a positive in terms of his leadership.
Actually, I've heard lotsa guys talk about Mett's leadership. Every OL that's had a mic in his face has said it, as well as the RBs and the receivers. I have little doubt of his leadership, or his ability. I have doubts about his future as a politician, though. Not a smooth talker.
Considering all of the offseason workouts with the WRs that he orchestrated and his tendency to rough up some of our defenders, Mett's leadership is not in question as far as I'm concerned. A little arrogance can be a good thing for a QB. I just hope it doesn't translate into a lack of resilience when the going gets tough. He needs to remember that he still has a lot to learn and needs to accept learning opportunities when they arise. He hasn't done anything yet.
This is true of Mallett, but Mallett didn't have the level of running game and OL that Mett will have. But, sometimes when I read quotes from Mett, I cringe a little. He's a legend in his own mind. We just need him to be resilient and productive.
Thanks for filling me in. Good to hear. We already have enough politicians. I'd be content with an effective LSU QB. It's been too long.
Terry Bradshaw sounded like the dumb redneck that he was . . . but he could read defenses and hit his receivers and he stood tall in the pocket and could scramble out of trouble. He still can't spell cat but he is an All-American, All-Pro, mulit-millionaire Hall of Famer. Just sayin'.
Please, make it stop. I can't stand watching it any longer. His incoherent mumbling and head-twitching are making me smh and lol.
I logged in here the first time while Zach was being recruited while at Butler. I'm a homer but here's what I can tell you: Zach's dad was about 20-22 when I first met him. I thought he was the most obnoxiously cocky person I had ever met when I first got to know him at one of Jack Nicklaus' courses in Atlanta. We grew in the course at C.C. of the South and have been close friends ever since. Bernie's cockiness came from an absolute confidence in his ability. I've never met a more incredible package of strength and coordination. Zach's mom is one of the most powerful, determined people I have ever met, of any gender. Zach is his parents squared. I'm really excited for the season to start. Y'all are really going to like Mett.
I didn't say he couldn't chuck the rock. I said he's a poor speaker. And I've misplaced the frick that I used to give about his speaking ability.
