You obviously have not watched any buckeye games this year. This year's team has more plays of 20+ yards than last year's all world offensive juggernaut. Many of those were long pass plays. Just a thought.

Whether they are able to get to the second level or not, they are very good at pulling, and tOSU likes to run counter and misdirection plays, where every single offensive lineman is capable of pulling effectively. If you watch Ted Ginn's TD reverse against ND (I know, I know, not my point), you can see our offensive lineman(Boone I think), leading him halfway down the field. Agility and speed (as they relate to offensive lineman), are not a question for this buckeye line.

I don't understand why a few LSU fans seem to be panicking. You have a very good team, and talent wise stack up very well. Coaching and execution will dictate the winner of this game, this other stuff, while important, is level enough that it won't be the difference, IMO. LSU is very good, I'm excited about seeing our boys put ourselves to the test against one of the best programs in the country and the SEC champ. As much as i would like all of these things to matter, they don't. Relax, I'm looking forward to coming to NO, eating some boudin, drinking some hand grenades, and watching what will be a fantastic football game.

Another really good post buckeye78. Thanks for your "quality" postings.

I think that most of us here really respect tOSU's team and program, and we've watched our team squeak out too many close wins this year to be 100% confident and comfortable.

I know this will be a tremendous game, and I am sure tOSU will be the best team we've played all year. Losing last year's title game the way ya'll did will only motivate your team to be at its best for this game.

Monday night's contest should be fantastic!!!

My biggest concern is Stewart going up against their defensive end Vernon Goulston or something like that.

You guys sure will be the best team we've faced all year. I remember, for at least half the season, I thought that this matchup we have here would be too good to be true. So while the rest of the country let out a collective groan when we were announced (mostly for OSU), a about creamed myself.

How many of Ohio State's games were played against, "better than average," defensive secondaries?

Sep 1 Youngstown State Won 38-6
    Sep 8 Akron Won 20-2
    Sep 15 @Washington Won 33-14
    Sep 22 Northwestern Won 58-7
    Sep 29 @Minnesota Won 30-7
    Oct 6 @Purdue Won 23-7
Oct 13 Kent St. Won 48-3
Oct 20 Michigan St. Won 24-17
    Oct 27 @Penn St. Won 37-17
    Nov 3 Wisconsin Won 38-17
    Nov 10 Illinois Lost 21-28
    Nov 17 @Michigan Won 14-3

I see Purdue, Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin as being the only better than average secondaries.

Add those scores up, and Ohio State only scored an average of 24 points against the better DBs.

I was impressed that Ohio State played Washington as their tough OFC opponent until I remembered that Washington was beat by Hawaii...:thumb:

I want to see Ali Highsmith play the game of his life!

Man, you guys are a bunch of worrywarts. Size does matter, but when a guy can use quickness to get around you, suddenly its not as important. I think Mr Dorsey can hold his own with these boys as well. If they double him that leaves a gap. With speed at linebacker, that can be exploited. With all due respect to OSU, it sure as hell didn't help them much last year against UF now, did it?

It sure didn't help OU...Their O-line outwighed WVU's D-line by like 45 pounds per man....Anyway, I think we have a pretty big D-line, except Pittman, which is more like the speed rusher.

They didn't have to score that many points to win. By looking at how many points they allowed in each contest tOSU's defense was in control of the game.

Having a great D takes a lot of pressure off the offense.

In a lot of the games we played in, we scored a lot of points. Most of the times we scored because we had too, but our D didn't have the same pressure on them to keep our opponents down.

Coming into the SEC title game, we were playing with a back-up QB and the defense had that pressure on them to keep us in the game.
