Who is number one in the rankings is meaningless. But, if you look back at the number one classes you see a trend. It's a trophy. Southern Cal, LSU, Florida, and Texas are among some of the teams that have brought in one of those top 3 (and in some cases #1) classes in the last 5 years.
Following your logic Bama should win a National Championship in the next 4 years. If you don't, you have failed where other schools have succeeded.
Personally, I care but it's not a big deal. I care much more about the players that LSU is getting than where we rank compared to other programs. I have yet to look at any of Miles' classes & not see future difference-makers & guys that could win a NC. I really don't see a big difference between LSU & any other program's class.
As long as we get the balance we need and the playmakers as you allude to Parso, then we have had a successful class. Not to get someone like a TJ Bryant or a DBrown just means we won't be so logjammed at certain positions with the prospect of having too many players being disgruntled due to not getting enough PT. Gotta remember chemistry is key to winning it all. Something we had a perfect mix of in our 03 and 07 teams. And we didn't need a Terrelle Pryor to do it.
I only saw a few Bama games this past year but it was quite evident to me that Hall had an attitude problem. He seemed to have great hands but when the ball wasn't coming his way, he'd loaf through his routes and then did some finger pointing. There are several NFL receivers with this mindset as well. What is it with receivers and attitudes?
What was embarrassing was the game against Florida St. when in front of God and a national audience DJ was walking during plays. The announcers actually alluded to it on several occassions just in that one game. Keith Brown had a bad habit of doing the same thing. Randy Moss syndrome without the production. It made my stomach turn just watching the crap.
For example, this class actually has a higher average star rating than our '04 class, which was #2 in the country & Scout.com recently named as the retroactive #1 class in the country.
I doubt you would. That's something I'd expect from my 9 yr olds on the little league football team I coach. It doesn't take much for them to quit. That's why you have to teach them not to quit no matter what. But from a 22 yr old? If that's all it takes for a person to quit and you're just talking about a game, then in more severe circumstances in "the real world" they'll probably do the same.
Good point, I remember being excited when we landed that class. Looking back at the numbers, the big difference between that year and this one is that USC had 8-five star players which greatly diluted the other top ranked classes. There were other factors, but that is the most obvious one.
