And quit calling me Shirley. I didn't like going for a FG. could have been blocked and returned for a TD. I've watched too many Saints games to know how one of my teams can lose...I would have preferred a hail mary. who knows? maybe we could have gotten a flag from some of the best, er, worst refs in the world! But, I've noticed that Les sits on leads. did it against MSU and tried again yesterday. Look how many points were scored after we lost the lead in minimal time frame.
This is an excellent point. Les is not a good front runner. I remember the great 49ers dynasty days. They would step on your throat when they had you pinned down. They always went for the kill shot. Game over.
I agree that coach has made errors in clock management. However... I think I can certainly make an argument that he is a great coach. In college, the criteria for a great coach would be winning percentage, championships, bowl wins, wins over top tier programs with great coaches, and recruiting. His winning percentage is fantastic, he won a SECCG and a BCSCG, he won all his bowl games (including 2 BCS bowls), he has beat numerous coaches who have won NC's, and his recruiting is incredible. So far, in his tenure at LSU, he qualifies as a great coach! Sure, you could argue his game management is not good enough, but without that "faulty" game management, wouldn't we have lost some of those close games? Some of you people should be watching Monty Python instead of football! "Always look on the bright side of life, de dum, de dum, de dum de dum"
arent people talking about two different series. at the end of the first half it is a huge mistake not to make a better attempt at scoring since lsu was up 6. my choice would have been a qb draw (assuming lsu had a timeout). safe play to get 5-15 and a good fg attempt. wouldve been nice to have confidence in play action but a sack wouldve ended it.
I have come to realize that Les Miles is the Mack Brown of the SEC, not that it's a bad thing. He could be the Bob Stoops or Pete Carroll of the SEC.
Les Miles coaching LSU is like having a Ferrari Enzo and the driver can't get it into 5th gear because he does not really know how . he may try and luck into it sometimes but never really knows just where to shift it and the only way he wins the race is because 4th gear on the Ferrari is faster than most cars in 5th
Definitely not an argument that Les Miles is a fine head coach. He has proved that in the 4 1/2 years he has been here at LSU (and even his success in the Big 12). The thread is about his clock management skills, which are nonexistent.
Erin Andrews (I think it was) asked him the question walking off the field about why he let the clock run out and he didn't answer the question.
