With 30 seconds left on the clock at the Georgia 40, Les Miles was pretty much a deer in the headlights and allowed the clock to run to zero.

    Obviously, that was totally absurd.

Les Miles hates clock management. I am convinced of that. He wants no part of it. It hurts his brain to think about it.

Under that scenario especially with your offense dominating the entire first half, you have 2 choices.

One is to kick a 59 yard FG with about 5 seconds left on the clock. Not likely, but at least you tried.

The best option is to run a play with about 10-12 seconds left and you throw a 10-15 yard out to get the first down and give yourself a reasonable FG (44-49 yards out). Worst case scenario is you hand the ball over on downs with about 3 seconds left to an offense that had no idea what it was doing up to that point. They would have knelt down.

Why don't you just let Crowton handle the clock. Let him yell in your ear what to do. You wouldn't have to think about it.

That was really bad. I can see if you are at your own 40, but on the other teams side of the field you should run a play. Especially in such a close game. Hopefully it's not a mistake he will repeat.

when les ran scott on 3rd and 1 and it didnt work he had no idea what to do next because he expected to get it.

after that he was standing there confused.

pretty inexcusable at this level of football.

luckily fate had already decided this game.

Miles has NEVER shown good clock management and never will. Its not at all a strength of his.

The man is frivolous though and it seems to get him through.

The worst I have seen came against Tennessee in the SEC CG just before the half and I think the same in 05 against Tennessee and again just before the half.

I also thought it was HORRIBLE at the end of the first half yesterday to not at least try to go down the field for a bomb. Worth the try.

Sorry, that was my 3rd option I totally forgot about.

    Thanks.

It was rigoddamndiculous, to say the least.

It's why people outside the LSU fandom don't respect Les Miles as a head coach and why he has such a bad wrap. They think we win in spite of him.
