To go even further statistically, on defense, through 8 games, we have given up 15.4 points per game. A respectable amount.

But, take out the Moo U & Arky State games like I did for our offense, and we're giving up 21.6 points per game.

In other words...We're giving up 21.6 points, and only scoring 19.5 points.

We're being outscored...and we're winning ugly...and we're not working on all facets of our game...and we're not getting better week to week.

This team isn't ready for prime time, and it will be the single worst 9-2 team I've ever seen.

Would you rather the best 5-6 team you have ever seen?

Take out the Gawga and AU games and we are undefeated. You cant look at pieces of a season and treat it like it is the whole picture. I agree our offense has been offensive and we are not playing like a top 25 team but we are not going to be the worse 9-2 team ever, remember we play in the SEC and a 9-2 season would be something to be very proud of especially when you have had a less than spectacular season. Most everyone is disappointed that we have not been a dominant top notch team like last year and there are obviously many areas where we are not up to par but I can live with 9-2 with the two losses being to top 10 teams at their house. I think the coaching staff will work very hard in the off season to make sure that we are more consistant on both sides of the ball.

And Vandy only scored 7, so what's the problem? Would the win count more if we scored 50? What frustrates me is that many are not satisfied with winning. It has to be on the fans' terms or it's not good enough. We can win the next 3 with our defense. None of the remaining opponents are offensive juggernauts that we have to outscore. If we throw 35 passes and 3 get picked leading to easy scores, what has been accomplished?

There is no consistency with either of the qb's in the passing game. This, and the lack of passing attempts, can both be summed up easily with two plays...

Russell throws a bubble screen pass that is so strong it nearly takes the receiver's his hands off. A few series later, Randall throws a bubble screen pass and it sails way over the receiver's head and out of bounds.

That's true, and partly the reason why only 11 passes were thrown last night. We have won 6 games in spite of our quarterback play and rather than call for coaches heads, I'd be more inclined to compliment them on their ability to squeeze wins out of this underachieving bunch.

    SabanFan...What are my terms?

To have the offense work cohesively, and not see us go to extremes from one week to the next. I don't want 37 passes one week, and then 11 the next. Nick Saban doesn't want it. If you consider him a liar, then say that "my expectations" are not his.

I want to be multiple on offense. I want to be unpredictable. This is exactly what Saban has espoused since his first day on campus and his first press conference. If you believe that those are "my expectations" and not his, then go ahead and lie.

I want to compete hard for 60 minutes. I want this team to play with a consistent intensity for 60 minutes. I want this team to be focused, and to play hard, and to play with good mental focus.

If these are merely "my expectations" and not the entire football programs, then I have been mislead by everything Nick Saban's ever said.

My "expectations" are shared by this staff. I want exactly what this football team wants. I think to get there that Jimbo isn't the answer after this year. You may differ. But what I want and what the team wants are the exact same thing.

Please point to how wanting execution from the offensive line, consistency in the playcalling, and focus and clarity of mind from the players are "fans expectations" and what "in reality" the team really wants.

    I am interested to know.

The problem I have is with your very first words in the title of this thread. Everything else is good fodder for discussion.

By the way, everyone knows that statistics can be manipulated in order to make any number of divergent points. You cannot throw out the 2 highest scoring games and then credibly attempt to prove your argument by looking at the remaining "average". What happens if you throw out our 2 lowest scoring games?

That's my entire point, SabanFan...You can't look at our statistics alone to see the true story of this team because if you throw out our two blowouts, we look really bad. We all know those two teams were overmatched.

I mean...hell...We beat Moo U 51-0, but beat UF 24-21, and then Moo U beat them 38-31...What the heck does that say? That we're REALLY inconsistent if you ask me.

You just agreed with me without realizing it. Thank you.

As for the title of the thread, I'm sorry you disagree. I knew I'd take heat for saying it...But, the development of the quarterback position was never more vital for the success of our program than this year. This has been the least development out of quite possibly the most talent (with the exception of the '00 season) they've had while at LSU.

The onus on quarterback development, as well as the onus for playcalling, falls on Fisher. When you look at how badly we're faltering on both accords, I think when coupled with his looking for head coaching jobs, it's easy to see that Fisher doesn't return.

If he does, I don't care. If he improves, I'm glad. I will be the first to say that my opinion was premature, and it was a mistake. I knew that I would take heat for this statement. I wanted to make it anyway. The finger points to Fisher this year. Period.
