I think that a lot of fans suffer from watching too many highlight reels and they only appreciate the game of football on a superficial level. For them, football gratification can only be achieved through glitzy plays. They are kind of like bipolar people that are addicted to endorphin highs and become depressed when the lows of grind it out football hits the field. These fans have no capacity to appreciate the subtleties of the game and winning at a high level for them is unacceptable if it means that winning is devoid of of SportCenter highlights. Their identity and worth as people are intrinsically tied to the big play and they become angry if their team dares to deprive them of opportunities to thump their chest about their team's weekly highlight reel in the 30 minute attention span world of the sports media of the times. This would explain why they are angry with Miles. Miles is like a Rubik's cube where the pieces are all the same puzzle. His offense is so predicable at times that it is boring. Guessing what is going to come next is about as challenging as solving the monochromatic Rubik's cube at times. The problem for these fans is that their criticism is muted by its high level of effectiveness. What's a whiner to do?
I am sorry, but you clearly do not understand things well enough. Your blame is misplaced. Again, Stud was not to be OC and he IS NOT IN FULL CONTROL OF THE O. You need to understand that we are running Miles O.
I agree with this. No I don't think Stud is the best qualified for OC, but he was not intended to be the OC. I still think Miles, Krags, & Stud run this O together due to Krags situation. Has it ever dawned on the critics that we just got beat by a better team last year. I told my son after the first game I didn't want to see anymore of Alabama because I think we squeeked one out. Well that didn't happen and they got a second chance to show they were better than us. That Bama defense last year was just nasty and I think anybody else might have had the same trouble we did. I like where we are because I remember the 80s & 90s and it wasn't fun.
I just have trouble believing that the talent that has been recruited on offense is being used to its potential. Miles' offense has hindered some very talented players from being able to make plays to help the team out.
Name all of the players you think that are being hindered by Miles' offense. I'm curious to find out why you believe that.
In the past: De Angelo Peterson comes to mind, for that matter, when was the last time we had a reliable catching TE? We hardly throw in there direction anymore. Now: I would say Russell Shephard. He has always been great when he lines up in the backfield, should have been utilized more like Percy Harvin was used at Florida (Reverses, quick outs, slants, wildcat, be allowed to throw a pass etc...) Receiving corp in general has always been under utilized. It may be the reason the prototypical NFL receivers, have not been coming to LSU as of late. Our receivers look pretty small, when you compare them around the league.
I think this is all part of the 1/9/12 hangover. Most of us just wanted this year to be as dominant as the 2011 regular season, as if that would somehow vindicate what the Tigers had accomplished. Instead, we get a different team, and none of us are particularly happy about it. A win in Gainesville, while helpful, won't totally cure it. A blowout of AMAB and a run through to the MNC would help, but even if undefeated, this season simply won't be as much fun as last year. Expecting dominance is just too hard a hurdle to overcome. Hopefully, this team will accomplish its goals anyway. GEAUX TIGERS
Peterson was an undrafted free agent who got cut by the team that originally signed him and is now on the practice squad for the Redskins. If the simplest answer is usually the most correct one, then maybe Peterson was just not that good. Did Miles "ruin" him or was he just over hyped and never really produced as a result of not being that good as opposed to being underutilized? If Peterson was good but underutilized, wouldn't he have excelled once he got "real" coaching instead of bouncing around practice squads?
