You aren't listening. First of all, Miles DID push for the raise for Crowton, I agree. But I think it's Alleva that forced Miles to keep Crowton after last season, and you have just as little evidence as I do. Your opinion is certainly no more valuable than mine.

Secondly, I don't care about UGA either. If my kid was offered by UGA and LSU, I'd hope for him to choose LSU. LSU is what I care about. But not all kids are LSU fans. Some are UGA fans. Some realize that ANY opportunity to play in the SEC is better than offers from lesser conferences. If my kid had the opportunity to go to either UGA, or say, BOISE ST!!!, I would hope he chose UGA...and I don't give a shi t about UGA. How many BSU QBs are lighting the NFL on fire? Bottom line, whatever SEC school offers, if it's only one, that's where I'd want my kid to go.

Uhm….we didn’t finished in the top 10 the past two years, and I doubt that we will finish in the top 10 again this season for the 3rd straight year in a row. Like I told you in the other thread, you need to sober up or at least slow down.

Bottom line, the root source...as far as positions on the field is concerned, of the offensive issues, is QB. That's one problem.

It's on coaching. I think it's on the guy that calls the plays, and the guy that is supposed to coach that position. That's the same person...Crowton.

There are very few teams that have it all together. Offense, Defense, Special Teams, and to split that up into certain aspects, rushing, passing, secondary, LBers, OL, DL. Placekicking, punting, coverage. LSU has all but one of these aspects in a position of either excellence or adequecy. The team that has all of these in at least an adequate state, that's the team that will contend for it all. But even the best will not do it every year. Look at OU, USC, Texas, UF, et al. Right now, the one is Bama...but who knows what happens when Ingram leaves? Who knows what happens when GMAC leaves? Remains to be seen. If they're anything like OU, Texas, UF, or LSU, it's likely that they have a drop off and go 9-4 or something. You're seeing it with Texas this season, you've seen in with USC and OU last season. You saw it with UF in '07, and likely again this season. I'm not one who thinks LSU is any better than any of these programs, and is likely a little behind them right now, except maybe OU and USC. But LSU has everything in place except for one thing as far as positions on the field. The QB. Les is responsible for not doing a good job addressing this recently. Crowton is responsible for not coaching up the ones we have, and not being able to utilize all that talent on offense. I think Les WILL address QB ASAP, and I think Crowton is incapable of coaching them, so Les WILL address the OC job as well.

Every other piece of the puzzle is already in place, and it's all young. It will be maintained for years. Fix this one thing, and it's a NC team again.

That's my contention, and I don't think it has any holes. I have stated Miles is responsible for several different things. I am not happy with Miles. But I do not think firing Miles is gonna fix anything anytime soon. I still think the most sure fix, and the quickest fix, is to let Crowton go and replace him with a more qualified OC. Replace him with someone that can manage the offense with minimal oversight from the HC. Miles is a figurehead type coach, and always has been. There's lots of them in the football world, and when they surround themselves with quality coordinators, they succeed.

We won't know the effects of Ole Miss Part II until next Feb. If the current offensive trends continue through the next month we will have many topics other than recruits to talk about. What is very scary is that Les Miles acknowledges what he has done and is responsible for and then comes back the next week and appears to have done almost nothing about the same problems.:geaux:

this honestly happened. I live in in SoCal where elite high school football is big time as much as Texas and Florida.

An elite QB recruit last year was a neighbor of mine son and was being recruited by an SEC team and several other major programs. I asked if LSU had spoken with him and they hadn't. Anyway, this was right after the Ole Miss game and Mile's blame game towards Jefferson was all over the TV. I asked his Dad what he thought about it and he said that if LSU recruited his son he intervene and reject the offer.

I seriously think that outside of recruits in Louisiana who bleed purple and gold, we are going to take a serious hit in creditablity with high school coaches.

It's not just the recruits. It's the high school coaches and mostly the parents of elite recruits who are going to question the integrity of a Coach who blames players.

We'll see soon and I hope I'm wrong.

Then again, if a scandal cheat snake like Rich Rod at Michigan can land recruits, maybe we'll be okay.

This is one of the rare situations where past performance does not necessarily dictate future results. Last year can be viewed as a fluke and not effect recruiting, but maintaining the current path will absolutely have an effect on recruiting at some point. We saw that in the 90's. Bama saw it in the 2000's.
