personal freedom is not a consideration unless you are talking about a government entity. anyone is free to start a league where they dont test for anything.
It should be nobody's business what I (assuming I am a baseball player) consume and don't consume, including drugs, alcohol, supplements, etc..
again, it is the "personl freedom" of baseball owners to choose to hire anyone they want, or not hire anyone they want. this means they can only hire folks who submit to drug testing if they want. drug using players are certainly free to find a drug allowing league and play in that. you dont seem to understand the concept of private ownership. if i start a no roid league, that league has the right to exist. so it isnt anyone's business what you consume, you should perfectly free to juice it up. i just wouldnt expect that you could force anyone to hire you against their will. you only appear to understand half of the idea of freedom. other people have freedom too. they are allowed to run their things that they own with their own rules.
you dont understand how it works if you use the phrase "personal freedom". its like isaying i want the personal freedom to go in your house and eat your food. you dont use words that way. you dont have the personal freedom to mangle things that are not yours.
Here is an interesting question. If there were no steroid era of baseball, does Bert Blyleven make the hall of fame? It seems to me that there is going to be a void in the hall of fame for a bit, because of all the roids, so will the voters go back and try to put in people who were slighted or maybe should be in, who haven't made it yet, but have been on the block for a long time?
People will always complain about this that or whatever in sports, but truth be told... MLB should be thanking the steroid era for saving their sport. Baseball was all but dead until the McGwire/Sosa home run race, which revitalized the sport and brought back interest, had it not been for steroids baseball could be dead right now. But let me ask you this... If players can't use PE's in sports for an edge, why do pitchers get to use resin(sp?) bags in order to prevent ball slippage when pitching... Imo, that's an unfair advantage for pitchers.
Have you ever used steroids? If not, then you are not qualified to say what benefit or not is derived from their use.
is a doctor qualified to prescribe a drug he himself has never used? i mean how is he qualified to say what benefits come from the drug? could it be that on planet earth people could find out information from other people? weird right? people can use communication and speak to each other, and relay information! this way people without personal experience can still have knowledge!
