Phil Jackson wasn't THAT good either. nor Vince Lombardi or John Wooden. None of them could hold the jockstrap of Barry Hardy or Jimmy Blacklock
And is coaching with les miles currently. Let's see if we can pull up woodens record so we can shit all over it too. Then pretend Dale Brown could have won just as much if he was there instead.
I never said Les Miles could have won as many titles at Alabama as has Saban. I never said he's not a great coach, either. What I've said is that the deck is stacked for him.... which it undeniably is. Never forget that he lost to Louisiana-Monroe before his recruiting advantages (money) kicked in.
All great coaches lose to shitty teams at some point. Cherry picking stats is a way for fans to rationalize their delusions. This thread is a great example.
"If Saban such a genius why did he fail with the Dolphins?" I don't know if Saban is a "genius" but when he walked in the door at Alabama, they finished winning seasons ranked #1 in all but 2 (actually 3 if you count 2007 and don't consider the NCAA suspensions that year). I often wondered myself why he didn't succeed in the NFL. You could argue that college football is managed differently than the NFL and perhaps Nick didn't have the (power?) to get people to submit to his way of doing things there. I think maybe Nick didn't have the respect back then that he might command if offered another NFL position today.
I agree he wouldn't have as many NC's at any other school but this is a retarded reference giving the year it happened.
