That Tennessee blunder must have really upset a Tennessee fan like you, Sully. Your school may have to take a coach from La Tech, but LSU won't. The last two guys who have coaches at LSU have won national championships and recruited at the highest levels. LSU is a ticket to ride for an ambitious coach. We taken sitting coaches away from BCS conference schools the last three time we hired one. There will be no shortage of qualified applicants for a LSU head coach job. There never has been.
After watching old Less Miles win a MNC and win most of his games strictly on talent alone and despite his ineptness as a coach, not too many coaches would pass up an opportunity to coach at LSU.
GT is 3 - 2...not sure how well it works. His style of play would be horrible in the SEC. Opposing defensives would eat that offense alive…think LSU vs GT two bowl games ago.
I don't think so. I don't believe there is a "Great" coach that in their right mind would come coach for a program and fan base that fires a HC with Miles' record. Hell quite frankly I'm not sure any would come if Miles resigned to go to some other job, as he might make it known that part of his decision is because the Tiger fan base is impossible to make happy. Yes, we have a deserved level of expectation, but then again many would say that we are a bunch of spoiled, unappreciative, over demanding, and have a level of outright nasty when we aren't happy. Not that all of us are, hell more than likely not even a vast majority, but the overly vocal group is what is resonating in his ears. Some one on here mentioned it the other day, something to the effect of the Tigers biggest problems are the fans, not the coaches and players. I wouldn't say that, but there is some truth to it.
Sure…because they wouldn’t be worried about getting fired after winning a national championship and pulling in top 5 and better recruiting classes year after year.
There are 5 areas that a coach needs to succeed in: 1) Recruiting 2) Hiring and managing a quality staff 3) Motivate the players 4) Develop the players 5) Manage the game. Les has been great at all but number 5, it is because he is great at the other four that we are 5 - 0 and in the top 10 right now. Given we were lucky on the last one.
Come on . . . Did you read any Alabama boards during Shula or Florida boards during Zook? Our fans are no more impossible to please than theirs. And did either of those schools have any difficulty finding a top coach? Nope.
