You see how the loyal refuse to acknowledge the existence of a valid argument. Those are some funny rascals I tell ya.
I'm still laughing. Where the hell is that Dave Chappell clip you posted in the other thread. Oh and, once again the loony bird has had enough. See if it last till she gets home.
Y'all know you won't be satisfied until Saint Nick is back. And all your slow motion dreams of running on the beach right into Saban's embrace can come true. I'll say Frank Wilson. Since even a chimp with a headset could win 10 games with this talent I'll keep one of the guys most responsible for recruiting that talent.
Upon posting this thread, I never once considered Saban as an option. Nor was he mentioned in my explanation in the beginning. I honestly thought people would consider names and open discussion. But it doesn't seem that will happen. People who commend Saban for his success will be accused of always wanting him back, even if they admit they think he's a prick. People who love Miles will never offer a replacement for conversation purposes, because they feel they will be betraying him. I thought there were more open minded people on here.
I did offer a replacement. My point was that THE ONLY coach in America that Les' record doesn't stand up against just so happens to be our ex bitch. And that's what we compare too, and it does a huge disservice to LSU. Look everyone is entitled to their opinion, I get that, I get the frustration, I know you are just trying to spark up an interesting conversation, and that's cool, but we all know Miles is here until he quits or the bottom just falls out, so any talk about coaches right now is kinda moot. It's like looking for a place to rent when your lease isn't up for a year.
I was trying to make the field of discussion a level one. Minus Saban or Miles or their comparisons and/or differences. Reasonable prospects and open minded discussion.
You've been waiting for a chance to use that line, eh? That is the problem, there ain't a lot of can't-miss candidates. The coaches in Les' pay grade with better proven records than Les are in positions that they will not be leaving, like Les. Saban and Meyer have had happy feet in the past, but they probably ain't moving now. Stoops ain't going anywhere. Replacing Les means taking a chance on a up-and-comer. Nick and Les were hits. Rein, Stovall, Archer, Hallman, and DiNardo were misses. Arnsparger was a proven coach, but he disliked LSU and left for Florida in 3 seasons. Got to call him a miss. So, since Charlie Mac, we've had a 1 in 3 chance of finding a coach that works out. It works that way for most schools. Witness USC and Alabama. We suffered with Archer/Hallman/Dinardo. Bama suffered with Dubose/Francionne/Price/Shula. USC suffered with Smith/Hackett/Robinson/Kiffen. Replacing Les or any top coach is a huge gamble for a school . . . any school. 33% chance of getting a keeper. Your question must come down to "who are the TRUE up-and comers" that bear watching until Les moves on. As tirk points out, that will be a while.
