We may disagree with Randle's manners and loyalty toward CLM. We may come from a background whereby one just does not do what Randle is doing to CLM. On the other hand, any objective observer and judge of LSU football can't ignore Randle's criticism. Randle is a little bit closer to LSU football than we are, unless we have a Tigerfan member who started on offense last year for LSU.

It's a concern that a former player is openly questioning some aspects of CLM's organization and coaching.

I agree with all of that, but coming from where I come from, it still speaks volumes to Randle's character, or lack thereof. And I come from a football family.

You've certainly made it very clear that your opinion of Randle's character is adversely affected by his decision to be openly critical. Many, if not most, people in all walks of life agree that a Whistleblower can often be shown to lack character. That's why most people never dare to become Whistleblowers -- they don't want to deal with the massive blowback that comes from being a Whistleblower. The reason why there are laws on the books protecting Whistleblowers is to attempt some kind of protection from the massive blowback that descends on the Whistleblower's head.

Moving on to another train of thought that's related:

If Randle's comments were way out of line with just about every other former player of CLM on the Offensive side of the ball, then, I'd have to believe that there would be some of these former players defending CLM and expressing dissatisfaction with Randle's comments. I have not heard of a single former player of CLM to openly express any problem with Randle's comments. I have not heard of a single former player of CLM openly try to defend CLM from Randle's comments.

My personal philosophy may be completely irrelevant here, because we do not know what is truly in Randle's heart, but -- my belief is this: I do not believe in blind loyalty or obedience to any Authority Figure, whether that Authority Figure be the President, a General Officer, my Commander in combat, my football coach, or any other Authority Figure. That's why I would hesitate to categorically state that "Randle-type" criticism of CLM is wrong under all circumstances. I'm not trying to insinuate that you don't agree with my thought here, Stacey O, I simply wanted to illuminate my perspective on this Whistleblower issue.

All of that is fair. It just feels disloyal. On the other hand, if he would have a heart-to-heart with Miles privately, I believe that would be fine.

But that isn't the way social media works, is it? I'm going to sound like an old fart here, but "kids these days" communicate differently. He's not really whistle-blowing, as much as he's being a blow hard.

Stacey we have no idea what kinds of face to face conversations Randle has had with CLM. We have no idea how many of these convos may have occurred.

Randle may be in the wrong here and being a blow hard, BUT, he may be a legitimate Whistleblower who is trying to do something for the good of the LSU football program.

If Randle is being a jerk, I'm sure that many of CLM's former players will come forward and openly defend CLM. As of yet, this has not happened. So far, not one former player has stepped forward to dispute Randle's comments, not one.

I think I would hate it even worse if the whole thing devolved into an argument between former players.

The thing that is rather distasteful ... is that "twitter", facebook, etc .. are like talking behind someone's back. CLM is in no position to defend himself in these types of communications.

I don't follow twitter or facebook .. so I really don't know, but the route of communication I think seems to be the bigger issue. If Randle printed an op-ed in some media, or gave an interview to a person, who could then get CLM's response to it, it would be different. But that's not the case.

Furthermore ... none of it is useful!! It's just attacking the person, and contributing nothing positive.

Everyone agrees that it would have been better if Randle had not tweeted his comments.

    It could hurt recruiting.

He's said his piece, now, we all hope that he lets the issue rest.

Mettenberger is where A.J. MaCarron was last year. Very raw and could develope into something very special.

If Mett could throw perfectly every down, our receivers caught 100% of the passes, our O-Line pushed their D-line 10 yds off the LOS every down, our backs could break every tackle, our coaches had the perfect gameplans every weekend, our recruits were all 5 stars, and every game was in Death Valley at night. Then we would win the NCG every single year!!! pretty realistic, right?
