    LSU may be young; but I think team speed will beat the Heels; it may be a struggle, but the Tigers pull it out

    I will also be there. Section 126 and i can't wait. Just like you i think we run hard too. Draughn is dangerous and Houston is just a beast. Oline is the healthiest it has been since Davis took over. Should be a fun game.

    Very good point but being honest i don't see too much difference in team speed. My reasoning is yes, i see major speed on offense for LSU but our defense is beyond fast. Our offense is below average and LSU's defense is fast. Unless we are talking special teams, i'd call it even. We lack and really good return man on special teams but Casey Barth our kicker has come along nicely. Inside 45 he's money.

    Well, we won't score 24 or whatever and if we give up over 15 we are in trouble. Regardless of the score. We are gonna win, easily if we do not turn it over. A lot. But not a lot of points will be scored.

    I agree the speed on defense is similar, although I think LSUs is faster. A lot of our front 7 is young and not well known, but they are very fast as a group.

    On offense, I don't think anyone can reasonable compare the two units and think they're comparable. (Not saying you did, because you acknowledge this in your post)

    Special teams (not talking about speed, everyone's specialists are fast) goes to LSU without a doubt. Not just talking about placekicking. Talking about punting, kick returning, and most importantly, coverage. LSU was exceptional last year from top to bottom in special teams, and will be again. This isn't close.

    So it comes down to matchups.

    LSU D vs UNC O------advantage LSU
    LSU O vs UNC D------advantage UNC
    FG kicker----------------advantage LSU
    Punter--------------------advantage LSU
    Coverage teams------advantage LSU

    Trying to be as open minded as possible for a Tiger fan, but that's just the way I see it. If LSU loses based on this, the difference will be gameplan/coaching.

    ***THAT IS NOT TO SAY MILES ISN'T A GOOD COACH***

    Talking about gameplan here people....

    I TOTALLY understand this line of thinking, but I have a gut feeling that it's just not gonna work out like people think.

    <and I think LSU will win>

    UNC is ranked 18. LSU is ranked 21. I'd call it an upset victory. I'd also call it 1-0.
