What will your opinion be if: 1. LSU beats them soundly, whether high or low scoring. 2. LSU wins a close one in a low scoring game. 3. LSU wins a close one in a high scoring game.
1. LSU beats them soundly, whether high or low scoring. We are on our way to great things.:crystal: 2. LSU wins a close one in a low scoring game. More of what I would expect and we are still on our way to great things.:champs: 3. LSU wins a close one in a high scoring game. Not what I would expect. Unless I am missing something or our defense comes out flat, Bama can't score as much as we can.
Re: When LSU beats Bama it means we're more likely to drop one to ole miss or arky. but that's just me, i'm glass half empty. that's what being raised a saints fan can do to you. btw, speaking of the saints, this season is shaking the very foundation of my being. it's nice to be a fan of a team when they are really good and you hope to see great things for them and if it doesn't happen then "oh well". it's another to know football and to know that the team you cheer for actually IS the best. now i worry about horrific accidents befalling drew brees. :tigereye:Saintslogo
What! What's with this if we beat bama? When we beat bama we go to at least #4. Then we have to guard against any let down and win out.
IMHO, it does not matter how badly we beat Bama. A win gives us a good chance of getting to the SECCG. You have to think whoever wins that game will be in the NCG. (Assuming, of course, the winner has only 1 loss.)
The best scenario for LSU in this game is a very close, hard-fought win over the #3 team in the country. Obviously if we lose, we lose and won't be going to the SECCG. But if we were to win and remain in contention for a shot at the BCS game, we have to leapfrog about 5 teams in the top-10. Beating #3 Bama and #1 Florida would send our SoS through the roof and make us a long-shot at a title opportunity. However if Bama really stumbled and we beat them soundly, they would tumble in the polls. They already dropped a point despite being undefeated because they did not look dominating in their last few games. We want Bama to drop just below LSU but not any further. We desperately need that SoS.
I strongly disagree that this scenario makes us a long-shot for a NC game. Assuming LSU wins out, a 1-loss SEC champ WILL get into the NC game over undefeated mid-majors with that SoS. Even if Iowa finishes undefeated, they will be 2009's version of the 2004 Auburn team, given the general lack of respect by the media, the way they've won games, and relatively weak SoS. Texas has a very good chance at an undefeated season, so in that situation it will be #1 Texas vs. #2 LSU for the title. Now the likelihood of LSU actually winning those two games is another matter entirely.
i just hope LSU wins this game, period. i don't care HOW ugly it may be. we can turn the ball over 3,478 times and win the ball game 3-2 and i'd be ecstatic.
