Yes, but it's no guarantee that he will always be the right guy for every situation. Maybe we're down 2-3 more O-linemen by the time we play Bama. If the DL is eating their lunch you want JJ's mobility to escape the pocket and make a play. Neither Lee nor Mett is going to provide that.

Again, we have an offense that is functional with Lee. That is something we haven't had in 3 seasons. Les isn't stupid. He's not about to screw that up while Lee is getting the job done. But you never know what circumstances will dictate over the course of a season.

Les will not hold JJ away from the team if cleared from criminal proceedings. Most of the players are already talking about when JJ is coming back, not if. I know one coach has said this too. They know it is out of their hands now but if it is in theirs he will be back.

Les Miles himself said it too, from the beginning. After JJ and JJ were arrested, Miles said he told JJ to defend himself, and then used the words "WHEN he come back"...

However, again...it's not like he hasn't played games in 3 weeks. He hasn't practiced, hasn't discussed game plans, hasn't gone over plays, NOTHING to do with the team. He isn't gonna step in and do anything for a while. I see no possible way he QBs this team unless it's a goal line situation. Even then, if he were to be reinstated tomorrow, I bet he wouldn't even do that until game 6 or 7.

    I don't expect that either.

I dont think that you can even believe how good this defense is either. 2 or 3 scores??? Nah....

Also, not a doubt in my mind, that if needed, Lee could lead this team to another come from behind win, even in the 4th quarter. After all, it isnt his first rodeo.

The game experience Lee does have, has played a huge role in the poise we have seen through the 1st 3 games.

I hope we don't start rotating qb's like last year. This will mess jl up. He's hitting 70% of his passes, checks out of plays when he actually reads the blitz , throws td's and is undefeated.
We all know how clm loves him some jj. Will clm stand behind his starting qb ,jl, like he did jj last year or will he throw jl under the bus ?
I hate to say it but we will see jj splitting time with jl within two games of him coming back.
Jl is ready to break out and actually throw for a 250 yard game. He grew during the moo state game before our very eyes. Clm will Frick all that up as soon as jj is back.

Don't forget "IF" the CRIMINAL charges are dropped, the CIVIL action will start. Their troubles are far from over, and the civil action will be tryed in the media. This is STILL a distraction to the team as we will hear about this constantly. Why bring that back to a team that is focused and rolling. I have nothing against JJ, but as some have said we are finally playing like a team. The qb is throwing and the rb's are running. We FINALLY have an identity on offense, and I think it is the identity CLM has been trying to get to since he arrived. Even the wr seem to have emerged on this offense. Why disrupt this flow with a qb who will pull it down and run taking away our weapons. I think we can use him but not at qb.

Just my 2 cents. I expect :miles: to do whats best for all involved.:thumb:

If that is the case ,

If that is the case . Look for a repeat of last season , JJ is not SEC level. The players can talk all they want , he is just not a winner . They can like him as much as they want too, JJ is not a winning QB .If JJ is our QB , all I can say is "Wow , what could have been . . "
I know some in here like and want JJ as QB , Well maybe , just maybe , it is time that you have what you want . Maybe "The Tigers" can send another great QB to the pros ,and wind up 2nd or 3rd in the SEC West .'Till then
    Geaux Tigers !!!

Come on . . . Mettenberger knows that Les didn't create Jefferson's situation. There are two seniors this year and Les was telling the truth, there was no intention to redshirt Jefferson. But circumstances change and Les' responsibility is to LSU's success, not to Mettenberger's hurt feelings.

In any case, If Metteneberger cannot beat Jefferson in spring practice, then Jefferson should start.

If I were Jefferson, I'd redshirt 2011 and come back in 2012 at tight end. He's not going to make it at quarterback in the NFL, but he's a big athletic guy that could put on about 30 pound and be a prototype NFL tight end. Les would play him (Peterson is a senior) and he could show that he has hands and can block.
