my thoughts on the whole jl vs jj thing....

jarrett lee has more heart and determination that a lot of people give him credit for. he has faced the hostility of fans for 1.5 years now and it got ugly tonight for him. yet he kept going out there and trying (ok not successfully all the time, but he didnt give up) when a lot of kids would have buckled of walked away. no matter what you think of him as a player, as a kid that stood up to adversity, you have to give him credit. however.... even tho he has an arm, he doesnt have the head to go with it. he gets rattled. stage fright. whatever you want to call it. i am the one who called him bambi all of last year and tonight i was reminded why. he went from throwing pick sixes to just flat out throwing it away. i really had hoped he had worked through a lot of that, but i really didnt see any change. and i felt bad for him. i really had hoped he had worked through some things because he does have talent.

jefferson doesnt have the arm, but he is quicker thinking. it isnt pretty but he is more likely to get the job done than lee. when he needs to scramble, he has to presence of mind to at least try and get something. he isnt the best we've had, but he doesnt panic like it appears lee does.

i really hope that tonight the coaches were playing lee because they know we have to have jefferson if we are gonna beat om and ark, and were giving him one more week to get healthy.

agree, disagree, i dont care. just my thoughts.

Well, Okie, I think he mentally lost it. He had to keep going back out there because Miles wouldn't take him out but his head wasn't in the game and even the receivers kind of shook their heads in grief. After the first few series he was lost. It's a shame for him as I'm sure he's a good kid but he does not have it between the ears to lead at QB. And the boos just made it worse. Your Bambi quote maybe right but more of a deer in the headlight look.

regarding mentally lost it, i agree. he was thrown to the wolves last year, due to circumstances that pretty much dictated that. and it seems to have phucked with his head. with is too bad because he has the arm. but we pretty much had no one else. what else were the coaches to do. rp was gone, hatch was down, you cant throw two to the wolves that way and ruin two. was he sacrificed? maybe. i was hoping the off season, practice, less pressure with jj starting, etc, he would come back mentally. but it doesnt look like that happened.

and i call him bambi for the reason you mention. deer caught in the headlights.

    Howard is better than Lee.

Lee is simply scared to take a hit. any time someone breaks past a blocker, he cowers and throws the ball in whichever direction he is facing.

Jefferson is not much better. Everyboby was screaming to see Lee play after 5 games into the season. The problem isn't QB. The offense sucks as a whole and it starts from the top.

I agree with the problem starting at the top. But Jefferson is MUCH better. After watching tonight's game, it's not even close.

I wonder where all the "Put Lee in" posters are at? JJ has horrible wind up, too big of a stance, etc. where are you are? Scared to look foolish? No doubt some fool will have an excuse for Lee. At this point only his Mom should be wanting him to play.. really.... all feelings aside nothing personal to Lee, Im sure he is a great kid.

JJ is about 500000 times BETTER than Lee will ever be. Sorry IT IS what it IS like sensation said. Stevie Wonder could see it. :insane:

they should have just played RShep. or anyone. the boy couldnt hit a barn.

I hope JJ is back next week so we have a decent chance at shutting :eek:lefire: UP!

I agree with this totally. I was ranting earlier, and pissed as all hell during the game (what little I got to see through the streaming site), but there were up sides, hell we did score more points than Tech. I do feel though we should've been able to throttle them... Tech does not have the caliber of athletes LSU does, the score should never be this close in this type of game. And regardless of who's at QB, we should be able to move the offense, both guys have had the same number of starts or atleast fairly equal playing time... imo, both should more than ready to compete... and RS should've never had to burn his redshirt. But since life isn't perfect...
Lee isn't the answer, I thought he was going to be special but apparently not and it's a shame too since he has a great arm. But imo if we're going to run a 2 QB system, it's going to be a JJ and RS show.
Not sure who to blame for the lack luster offense other than the staff... their the ones responsible for getting the team prepared and ready to play. GC will be here next season, he isn't going anywhere yet. But if things aren't different next season and Bama beats us a 3rd straight season... we'll be looking for a new OC.

Yeah, Ole Miss is going to be really tough either way.

Houston Nutt has finally figured out that Dexter McCluster is the key to success for Ole Miss this year.

The dude has 591 RUSHING YARDS in the last THREE games he's played in!!! Oh, and 196 yards receiving too! And he got hurt in the Auburn game and wasn't even able to play in a good portion of that one. Otherwise, they might have won that one too.

That guy cuts better than almost anyone I've ever seen on a football field. He reminds me of Skyler Green the year of our NC with Saban (except he's even more versatile). Looking at how we've been stopping the run, he's gonna really be hard to deal with. We have to bring our A game on D.
