I realize that the "if" game has no true answers. But "if" Les Miles had thought that maybe JJ wasn't working out so good and JL scares his job security...It scares me as a Reb, what he might could have taken a chance on.....Newton wasn't crazy about going to Auburn....Loved MSU....but did not want to be the "work hoss." He is anyway, now. Or Masoli.....would it have been worth a chance? He accounts for almost 300 yds a game with very, very little help...several excellent passes have been dropped where the receiver could have WALKED into the endzone......with either one, and the overall talent of LSU, damn..............jmo:geaux: BTW..........If Miles continues to use only JJ, and both JJ and JL are back for next year................what happens if JL says (after this year) screw it. You will be left with JJ for next year and absolutely NO experienced qb. JJ goes down in the sr year...........who takes his place? just asking.
At the risk of sounding like SIU, as long as Crowton is developing QBs it doesn't matter if LSU is three-deep with 5* QB talent. By the time Crowton is done with them they'll all be head cases and fortunate to average 100 yds total a game.
We are definitely not in good shape at that position. We could be getting Butler Community College quarterback Zach Mettenberger. 6'5 250 4.9 forty, former Georgia Bulldog who has only LSU listed as his choice for next year. He was the No. 11 quarterback in the nation in 2009 out of Watkinsville, Ga. butwas kicked off of the Georgia team last spring after a couple of arrests. Then there's Stephen Rivers who's committed to us.
Possible, maybe but HIGHLY unlikely. Unless he's THAT much of a dumbass. Classes should be built around highly recruited QB's when a school has none especially.
I know Saban has "timed releases" of his recruits to keep Bama in the news- others may too but when a team has a highly recruited QB you use that as a selling point. That is ESPECIALLY true when every dam thing you hear about a great program, loaded with talent, etc. is IF ONLY THEY HAD A QB. Capiche? Don't you remember R Shep recruiting for us and telling us Loston was his cousin and HE WAS coming to LSU- even when he was committed to Clemson, I think it was at the time. Not to mention even YOU posted we were bringing in two so if he's bringing in THREE in one class, sheesh, THAT would be dumbass.
I didn't count Zach Lee. Doesn't help your argument though, 3=3. What was it we were arguing again? Seriously though, you seem to be knowledgeable about the overall in's and out's, you don't really think Miles would be sandbagging a highly recruited QB do you?
He sandbags something every year...or else he's just extremely lucky every NSD. But I don't think he's sandbagging a QB. If he was, it was Mettenberger...but I think the cat's out of the bag on that one. - It's a lot of ifs, but it's a legitimate question Col Reb. But I think it's been answered sufficiently. I think it's Mettenberger. I think Crowton's gone after this season...if he makes the whole season. I think Rivers is destined to be the heir following Mettenberger, but I also think Miles takes two QBs/year for a while, and goes after some big ones. There just isn't any big ones left this year. Quite frankly, I'm not sure there ever were any big ones on the board this year. Ely didn't impress me much. I think he was the biggest one we were after.
If he was it wouldn't be a secret, word would leak out. There would at least be rumors of us being in the mix. As for one being committed and thinking of switching, that happens a lot and why they wouldn't be able to tell "commits" at this point, imo. You're right about any QB seeing a helluva place to come play with the support cast they'll have and so young too.
