Wore my colors in Orlando for an academic conference I was giving a talk at. Had to check out of my hotel at 3:30 AM with no one there but the girls working behind the desk. One saw my LSU cap and asked me if I knew who Dwayne Bowe was. Turned out they were childhood friends. Other than that, the LSU gear got me some funny looks from a couple of people, which struck me as pretty amusing.
Yep. I get it from Alabama fans all the time. Phuck 'em. I sport my colors regardless of who the coach is or what I think about him. They have a strange infatuation with their coach that I will never understand.
Word around TN was that a drop in ticket sales AND a drop in donations were big factors in Fulmer getting the ax. Having only 70k or 80k in the stands for a game doesn't mean the games are not sold out. But if fans are unhappy, and the school sees a big drop off in actual sales of tickets, merchandise, general AD revenue AND donations, things might start to change. All it might take is the TAF sees donations drop of a lot. LSU itself along with TAF has a lot of money invested and borrowed (bond issues, etc.) in AD facilities and that is one big change from the 90s. But, as someone else pointed out, you will not see much of that as long as we are averaging 8 or 9 wins a season. ldskule:
In the 90's you could get to the game 20 minutes before kickoff and buy a ticket for about $5 if you didn't have someone give it to you for free. Losing will send fans away in droves. It was actually nice to just walk up and get a ticket. Went to a lot of games in the 90's. Saw some bad football but ate some good food before hand.
