Totally agree. If you can't win your conference you shouldn't be in the playoffs. And it would make add much more interest and excitement. Frankly, i didn't give a shit about the Bama - Florida game. If it was to determine who got in the playoff i probably would have been interested enough to watch, which i didn't. And it would take a lot of the politics and bias out of it. Although, the Gumps still won't get penalties until the games well in hand.
I'd say that we'd be Sugar Bound and happy with it. In 2011 Bama didn't win the division let alone the conference, yet got a redo. LSU got screwed, and Bama got that gump privilege. You want to play for all the marbels, you have to put your best effort forward in all 12 regular season games and get it done on the field.
Not surprising there wasn't a response. And yes, he was logged on for almost a half hour after I posted.
Yeah, Bama should go. If we were undefeated and loss to a 2-3 loss Florida in the SEC championship, we should be out. On the flip side, if we had a team that lost 2-3 games early working out the kinks and turned into a juggernaut, i would be great knowing that our destiny could be still in our hands. I would see the conference championships as a de facto 1st round of the playoffs. And i would expand to 8 teams. I understand the totality of the season argument, but i think how a team progresses and what they become at the end of that progression should be key.
