Its 4th and what 20, 17, cant remember, with no timeouts left and out of field goal range. Does the play call change from hail mary? I think it does, with more time on the clock i think they would have run a long crossing route short of the 1st down and had the receiver pick up the first, and try to get out of bounds, but if not out of bounds, there would have been enough time to clock it if the first was achieved. sorry i just feel that the LSU nation was robbed of one of the greatest comebacks in a long time. A moment of history that will never be, was pissed away by the stuff leading up to that 4th down for sure. and i also recall Josh Jasper fist pumpming after the Brandon Lafell inside screen, like he even knew, ok we run, run, run to the middle, kick the FG win the game.
Honestly IMO I think Crowton calls a play short of the sticks and we get tackled... game over anyway. :rolleye33:
right, also no one has mentioned the bone head on side kick in the first half that led to an Ole Miss score. That was another coaching blunder in my opinion.
i thought about that initially too. who knows what happens if the timeout is called. we likely blunder it anyhow in some way. we didnt deserve to win. how many times did ole miss punt? what was the play tally?
Does it really matter? GC's called offense scrored only 16 points in the game. If it weren't for PP scooping up the ball and taking off with it, this game wouldn't have been as close as a FG... seriously, we run the hurry up at the end and it works, but again we see limited **** that works and ton of stuff that doesn't... I blame this on GC.
I can't be angry at that call. That's a calculated decision and I think it had near a 40% chance of success. He was going for the win.. and trying to keep his tired defense off the field.
i didnt like the timing of it but certainly agree with your assessment. and it almost worked. i wont 2nd guess that one. thats the les we want to see anyhow. cant have it both ways.
no it doesn't matter, just thought it would be interesting to hear what some thought we would have done in that situation. i thought it was stupid. LSU just scored, Miles was on the sideline fist pumping, we had momentum, and then we kick an onside kick, and kill the momentum. Just thought it was unwarranted, and not needed at that time.
Right. Take away LSU's special teams (blocked FG) and neither the offense nor the defense did anything to win the game. The whole game was coached poorly, and this time relying solely on talent wasn't enough.
Let's not also forget that OM had TWO td's called back. We were being owned. Even so, there we were at the end, in a GREAT position to steal the game (like we have many times before in the Les Miles era.) If one is an adrenaline junkie, it's been so really exciting football. I've enjoyed it. But last night, all of the criticisms of the Miles regime showed up in one fell swoop, and those of us who've always apologized for the guy finally had to throw our hands up in the air. I don't even know what else to say about it.
