That's what scares the hell out of me. There are some quality options if Alleva does his homework. No guarantees just like Jimbo wouldn't be, but quality guys out there. I'm afraid he's so interested in making a splash that we may end up making a splash in a sewer pond instead of just a wave in a quality fishing pond.
As long as he's smart enough to know that he'd need a stout defense, and brought in a good DC to shore up that side of the ball, his upgrade to our offense would be enough to make considerable runs at the West most seasons. It wouldn't take much to upgrade our offense as it stands now and make us viable in the SEC discussion.
The discussion on this board has been absurd! They couldn't wait to run Miles out of town because he played scared, but now they are willing to hire average Joe as long as it's a safe hire with experience. As much as I dislike Peterson he showed big hairy balls going for two at the end of regulation. I have soooooo much more respect for someone that plays to win over someone that plays not to lose. I'm shocked that so many here seem to have come down with a case of Miles flu. Give them average and safe, don't even think about taking a chance to win. With that attitude we should have kept Miles and bought permanent seats at the Poulan Weed Eater Bowl.
I'd like the Tom Herman hire. I'm not sold on Jimbo. For what it's worth, NO ONE is a "sure thing". But a good, smart "up and comer" coach like Herman is hungry. He would also be open to an updated offense, unlike the older coaches. He seems like a perfect solution. But I don't see him coming here. It's "rumored" his dream job is Texas but who knows what the hell to believe anymore?
