The problem isn’t the quarterback. The problem is the quarterback coaching. Get rid of Crowton and get someone that isn’t so incompetent, and we will see the quarterback position play significantly improve. Indeed, the longer Crowton stays, the more he will screw up our quarterbacks and make them look like crap.

Russell/Flynn Randall/Russell, Booty/Davey...the list goes on... The better QB is always on the bench.

Come sit with me during the Spring game and if we see CG with a quick read and quick release I think the hand writing will be on the wall.

Do you think senior minded Les would sit JJ to play CG?

I think the best player should be on the field and I assume Les thinks the same thing.

    see ya in the spring.

Let the guys battle it out in spring practice.

Remember, we all thought Jarrett Lee was going to be a stud. And we all always want the backup when the starter struggles even a little bit.

If Garrett comes in and looks great and JJ is still struggling, then I'm all for it. But it's going to take a lot for Miles to not stick with the more experienced player.

I agree but Les knows lots of what killed him nation wide at Ole Miss lays on QB play. I will take lots but it is possible.

I will be with you at the spring game.

What???? First of all, we couldn't stop Ole Miss on offense - see 425+ total yards. McCluster averaged over 6 yards per carry on us. We were extremely fortunate to be leading at half.

Jefferson didn't have one of his best games, but we had no running game as usual this year and our coaches blew a chance at a game winning field goal by playcalling, not using a timeout sooner and then having nothing prepared when we succeeded again at the end.

Without a running game in the SEC, you won't be great. JJ needs to improve, but he's not first on the list of problems.

Part of the What is JJ needs to have more of a field general in him. I know part of that is coaching but part of it falls on JJ growing up as a team leader.

You can't get sacked but we should have been running the ball.

    He got sacked why????

He holds the ball and doesn't move up in the pocket.

He had a auto play to call at the end of that game and he should have never looked at the sidelines. They practice it every week. The play they called during the time out goes to the end zone!!

He threw it to the 6 !

As the chains are moving he should be calling the set play. That is on JJ.

He is not a young QB going into his 14 game as a starter.

Miles and staff recruited this bunch Hatch, Lee, JJ. I am hoping to see better play calling and better QB play soon. Very soon!

I don't really care who starts, except I want the coaches to go with the guy that gives us the best chance to win games.

JJ looked confused at times this season, but that's part of maturing as a starter in the SEC if you are forced into it as a true soph (like a redshirt frosh basically). I expect JJ will be less confused next season, because of what he learned this season. Of course, I never met JJ and he may never learn to read defenses. But usually a talented QB will develop after he gets a year of starting under his belt. Wow, next season JJ will be a Junior, how time flies!

I saw about 3 plays by Garrett in the 09 spring game, and his throwing mechanics make me drool. Man, he looks good. But then we don't know how smart he is, if he's grasping the playbook, can he read the defense in the SEC? Usually that is not a given with a redshirt frosh QB, as he'll be next season.

I think JJ will be better and he'll be the starter. If CG passes him up and earns the job, I'll be happy also.

No doubt, he holds the ball too long. He has to improve that and even on passes that he completes. But our O-line definitely didn't help him for much of the season. All of the sacks weren't on him. A good number were though.

As for trying to blame him for the way that ended, that's B.S. The bottom line is that the coaches wasted 17 seconds because they didn't call a timeout. Otherwise, time wouldn't have been an issue. They're the coaches and strategic moves like timeouts ultimately fall on them. That's what they get paid for. I know it's been said six billion times, but just to prove a point here...

Also, JJ threw the ball 52 yards in the air with a Ole Miss defender blitzing through the middle about to nail him. He threw it right at LSU's 42-yard line. It's not his fault the ball didn't go in the end zone. Besides TT wasn't even in the end zone yet so he would have had no chance to catch it if it did go that far. A good number of QBs wouldn't have even thrown it that far. I mean, there are very few arms like J. Russell out there that could hit the end zone from there with a rush. JaMarcus probably would have thrown it backwards for 60+ yards.

And what, do you go to practice every week and know that they have an auto play? Because my auto play would have been to get the FG unit on the field in the 25 seconds we had before the whistle was blown. At that point we could have caught Ole Miss off guard and they might have gotten a penalty even if we didn't get the FG. Hell, you do a silent snap and just take a shot.

The coaches had 25 seconds to scream to their players what to do. Apparently they didn't tell them not to spike it though.

JJ needs to keep improving, but the other stuff is even bigger.
