obviously jasper is a once in a decade kicker, he goes without saying but his punting has been almost as stellar.

and helton crushed quite a few punts that you dont often see such consistency except in the nfl. these 2 kickers/punters are golden.

jasper had another one inside the 20 with the other being caught at the one then going into the endzone. we must have averaged 45 yds a kick.

regarding les' playcalling. I couldnt decide which head coach was worse. Les throwing the ball stopping the clock when needing to get out of there as fast as possible before jj internally combusted. Or Bill Stewart running devine up the middle with 3 mins and 1 TO left backed against his own goal. not to mention kicking to peterson continuously.

these 2 guys arent the stalwarts of their field. both often look so lost with time management and decision making its almost amazing to watch.

and to anyone still thinking this is gc's offense, I feel for ya. He is so limited and not just because of JJ. its because les will not even entertain the idea of letting lee in the game when its clear jefferson wanted to crawl under a rock. the reason we run the option is because we cant pass and we need to run something besides a dive. yet you have a qb who cant run or pass. so we tell lee he is going in, he gets in the huddle then at the last second you tell him, umm psych. go sit back on the bench. this should help his mental state hes been struggling with.

i understand putting jj back in for the last series, i assumed it was for center/qb exchange since lee never sees the field. was probably the safest bet.

les needs to get his head out of his ass and do whats best before losing this team. stellar defenses dont necessarily wear down physically as much as mentally when they know their coach isnt giving them the best opportunity to put points on the board. or from just continually wondering when they are going get some help. its mentally draining.

the wr's, who arent great, have already given up on most routes. one average qb can do wonders for this team, and morale on both side of the ball. if lee implodes, **** it. put shepard in and run the wildcat half the game. otherwise its back to the 112th ranked offense.

WVA is not a good team really. decent for the big east and an equally bad head coach. LSU clearly had more talent scattered all over the field. luckily. and great special teams. but I look for the defense to start lapsing a bit if there is not a change at qb and especially a change in les' offensive philosophy.

We can have Billy Gonzales, Gary Crowton, Billy Kilmer or Billy Cannon coaching these guys during the week and its not going to matter. Les reverts to what Les knows. Under-utilizing his skill guys while playing smashmouth while your better talent stands and watches. This was the time to start getting Lee some throws. That time has almost passed. One week is not enough time to begin the jlee reclamation project but at least UT's pass d is horrible. UAB threw for 430 or so. But what will we do?

Probably run the option with JJ while russell shepard sits on the bench contemplating his role on the team. for the second straight year. i guess he still only knows 2 plays. or maybe 1, the jet sweep.

this may be the worst coached offense in d1. and the man under the big hat needs to earn his paycheck by swallowing his ego and getting completely out of the way. but im not even sure hes capable of that.

    Great point about Shepard.

I actually think this is the way we should go.

    Scrap Jefferson.

Run a option/spread/wildcat with Shepard and teach him how to throw 10-15 yard passes to keep the defenses honest.

We'll score 30 points per game (on offense) if we do that.

Get a room, you two. :)

J Lee won't get a start until the McNeese game.

Last night the definition of insanity kept running through my head.

If Lee is going to start, which I think is a big mistake, then he better get the best possible chance of succeeding, and that is against possibly the worst defense in D-1 football, the Tennessee Vols.

I wouldn't be surprised if he makes the switch for the Florida game instead and we get to watch JLee throw three pick 6s.

Special teams isn't just the return game. And both of you are displaying ignorance about Holliday. If you think he was improperly utilized in the offense, I agree...but this thread title says SPECIAL TEAMS. Holliday avgd 18+yds/return last season. Special teams has been the best in the country the last two years. Quit being rediculous. Don't just throw shet out there with nothing backing it up. Why start a thread about special teams if that isn't really what you're talking about?

Give me the statistics to back this up...
