Wow I am thinking about what the title of my thread means.

I used to love coming to talk on these boards about LSU football and something has happenned to me. I have gotten spoiled and i have fallen into the same trap that alot of you have.

What it comes down to for me is do i have what it takes to just support my team and players and enjoy the experience of LSU sports with the amazement of remembering my first game as a kid seeing my Tigers run out of the tunnel and the feeling of pride and pure joy of feeling my whole body come alive.

It wasnt about whether some kid made a mistake and got a penalty or whether our QB fumbled or whether our coach was perfect.

It was about supporting people who i had never met because they were putting it on the line for the team i loved. And still love to this day some 50 years later.

I have been caught up in the negatiger versus sunshine pumper and i dont even recognize myself anymore with all the bitching and moaning i do about this is and that. There are enough here to break down and critisize every bad decision or wrong playcall or vanilla this or pass that.

I have decided for me and for me only i want to pull for my tigers with all i have and give them my support win or lose. Our team has some tough challenges ahead of it and i only ask that when they step on the field that they do the best they can and walk off the field with their heads held high win or lose. Because i am with them and i will go to my grave bleeding purple and gold.

And life is in the journey and the attitude .

Its about time this LSU fan just told his team that he supports em and ill be there for them.

Give em hell tomorrow tigers and do your best. I can live with that.

Well said! This very thing has been on my mind all week and I was going to post something similar. I'm glad that you did. Not sure when it happened but whining seems to have taken over and many of us have forgotten what's important and why we love this time of year. It's about the Tigers. Not whether or not they go undefeated or our QB puts up 10000 yards. It's about supporting this team. Somewhere we got divided. Sunshine pumpers and Negatigers. United we stand baby. This ain't the Fed Govt. We should be pulling together and supporting this team as one unified fan base.

Leave all the useless finger pointing and bitching to the professionals up in Washington.

    I'm hungry for some Gator.

    Geaux Tigers!!

Good post folks. I think that many on this site are like you. They will support LSU through thick and thin as the majority in here are life long Tiger fans. What has happened to this fan base is that they have become spoiled to all the success. Now they expect to have an undefeated team every year. As unrealistic as that happens to be, that has attracted thousands of new fans to LSU. Anyone who has played football or coached it, knows that it is not relalistic to expect to go undefeated every year. All teams that do (including Bama) have to have a little luck on their side to go undefeated. That luck includes minimal injuries, a schedule that plays in your favor, and the ball bouncing your way more often than not.
Again, good post guys. I sat in Tiger Stadium during the Hallman years. So I know what the bad years are like. That's why I really appreciate the success that we have had under Les. It's also why I try to temper my criticism as much as I can. Now I have to admit that last year's NC game was hard to temper it though.

Great post. For every flaw that we and others see in this team, I am certain that the players and coaches are working as hard as they can to fix them.

The O-line needs to do a better job on pass protection? I am sure the coaches and the players feel the same way and are working on it.

Mett needs to make faster decisions, anticipate the impending sack, and throw better on the run? I am sure he thinks he needs to improve these areas too and is working on it and the coaches are helping him.

And even if they aren't working on it or doing their best, what can I do about it? I am not on the field or sidelines so I can't do squat. So if they drop a few games, sure I am disappointed and that may mean fewer of their games are televised so I don't have as many opportunities to watch them play. But in the end, I appreciate their effort and their success and can only hope it continues. If it doesn't I am still going to watch the games I can and wear my purple and gold rain or shine.

As frustrating as it can be to watch them, I love LSU and if they were 0-5 today I would be watching, holding out hope that we could run the table and be bowl eligible. I agree that a lot of LSU fans can be fair weather but I don't think you will find more passionate fans anywhere in the country. I too get aggravated when some of the more ridiculous things pop up like people calling for the coaches head after a game we just WON, or concocting conspiracies about team drama unfolding before the BCSNC causing our lackluster performance, or those who believe the backup QB is always the best QB on the team. God bless'em but they can be like that one uncle who drinks too much at every family gathering and shows his ass, literally, to all the cousins. I suppose they are the same bunch who believe that Obama is secretly Muslim and Bush had something to do with 9/11. Nevertheless, at the end of the day I guess LSU fans are like a big family.....some that you are less proud of than others but when the lights come on in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night and we put on the Purple & Gold it's blood. Geaux Tigers!

I just think it is sad when people attack valid criticisms of the team/performance.

This idea of being a “true fan” and just being happy is a bit silly. I have been an LSU fan all my life and am just as much an LSU fan when I am utterly disappointed in my team as well as when I am 100% satisfied.

I 100% agree with you on this one. I often just read instead of posting due to these attacks. The whole negatiger thing is just BS. If I see something I don't like, I will voice my opinion.
