I still hold my original position on the QB sit.

Izzy ... Junk??? ... pray tell me how to come up with "junk".

In the last three games ... Lee and Jefferson both stunk equally against ULM. ... in both cases the WR's played their part in making them look bad.

Ol Miss .. he only got two sets of downs .. the first set, he was junk we'll say [though again, the WR's play their part in making him look like junk], the second set, he completed his pass ... that stupid WR screen that you think is so grand, and then they ran two run plays, and had to punt. That was it.

Yesterday .. he got one set of downs ... which right off the bat included that stupid WR screen [that you think is so grand] .... so predictable .. that even had shep caught it .. it wouldn't have amounted to squat. Then he completed his pass to Murphy, then an incomplete .... and that was all it took for a pre-loaded bias to pull the trigger. NEVER MIND THAT JEFFERSON THREE"D AND OUT ON HIS FIRST SET OF DOWNS ... nah .. that matters not ... he is GRAND and deserves to play.

I don't blame Lee for falling apart. How would you feel Izzy .. you compete like hell, come on strong, dominate two or three games in a row .... only to have the coaches to tell you stick it. .... "we are staying with our failure that we think is so grand". When it's obvious that the cards are stacked against you due to politics ... ya might as well just hang it up.

If Lee has played poorly the last few games, it's because the Coaches did not reward him for the hard work and sacrifices he made. The Coaches did not let him build on his momentum .. but instead brought it to a screeching halt by making him share the play with Jefferson .... just so Jefferson could get his sporatic confidence back to go with his no talent. See where that got us eh?? ... WE LOST ... once again because of our offense.

LSU had a chance to build on the momentum of a QB that was playing well and improving ... but their fricken love affair with Jefferson killed it.

    Respectfully ....I disagree with you!

We'll be fine on D. A lot of young guys that got tons of PT this year. I dare say they won't make the same mistakes like we saw yesterday.

The main focus has to be on improving the offense.

I was wondering what happened to TC!

Exactly. I've seen bad QB play before, but I don't think I've ever seen a QB that lacked this skill as bad as Jefferson. It's infuriating.

Another good point. To go 10-2 in this league with how poorly our QBs played; I think this has be one of Miles best years as a coach. But to your point, at the same time, there has to be some blame for us even being in that situation to begin with. We all know that we MAY be undefeated right now if we have just an average QB.

Well in his defense the season didn't play out like he hoped/expected. 10 wins is probably killing him.:hihi:

:geaux: Truth! The Tigers winning 10 games really threw a monkey wrench in his season. :hihi: Too much positivity for TC to handle. :LSU231:

Lee didn't get enough opportunity to play, but JJ made improvement toward the end of the season. Our coaches love a qb that can run and are trying to run an offense based around a running qb. I love a running qb too, but I think Lee has more ability in a passing offense than has been shown because of our offensive philosophy.

I'm seriously worried about our defense next year - it's been struggling toward the end of the season with a bunch of solid veteran players. LSU is still feeling like Fulmer's Tennessee.

Have to agree. There was one particular play where JJ dropped back to pass and when his primary receiver was covered he began running around and dodged several tackles and made a few moves but never, ever looked down the field again once he had to dance around. I went ballistic and hollered at the TV that one of his receivers was bound to have gotten open during that several seconds if he had just kept part of his focus downfield. Not two seconds later, Buerlein said the exact same thing. And how many times have we seen other quarterbacks avoid pressure but stay focused on making a throw and hitting a receiver who has come open during the play? Pocket presence, JJ simply does not have it, and that is just one thing he is missing. This guy is not an SEC caliber quarterback.

It's great to support your players as Miles does, but not when it hurts the team. We've suffered through 08, 09, and to an extent in 10, while Auburn got Newton, OM got Massoli, and Arky got Mallet. Crowton got Hatch. We needed to go get a competent QB, but we didn't. That hurt this team after RP was shown the door. The situation needed to be remedied and it was not. Waiting a couple of years and hoping your young guys grew up to be "the guy" just takes too long. And, what if it never happens? We are looking at it, it has not happened.

Once you see Chris Garrett was not going to work out, the ante goes up even higher. Then you bet your pile on a high school QB who is a first round MLB player.

Finally we go after Mettenberger, 3 years too late. We should have been after this type of transfer for the last 3 years.

    Bad on Miles / Crowton.

Lee got 1 series (3 plays) and 1 other play. JJ had many bad series yet stayed in. Since the UF and UT game, LEE has deserved a 1:1 shot, but has not gotten it.

Funny to me how the staff is loyal to the wrong players ... if it weren't for Jarrett Lee, LSU would be 8-4.

bottom line, i commend JL for hanging in there, not getting the reps he deserves, and them running an offense (when he was in) that was designed for a running QB. NOTE: There is no reason that JL should ever run the read option, yet he ran it multiple times, including vs. Arky.

Next year, it ain't looking good ... for like the 4th straight year. i can't wait.

Way too early to start thinking the sky is falling at QB. It's going to depend in large part on what adjustments Les makes to the coaching staff following our bowl game. But a new OC is an absolute precondition to seeing any improvement, with a good OL coach coming in a close second. Should Lee stick around I think he is still salvageable, but I think we have seen Jefferson's ceiling. That internal clock and pocket awareness is not going to be coached into him at this point.
